$65,000-$75,000 Position Summary Tufts Grinding is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to assist the Purchasing Manager with purchasing, inventory, and material-management activities. This position works closely with the Purchasing Manager, Sales, and Production teams to ensure that materials, parts, steel, and other supplies are available when needed. The ideal candidate has strong organizational and communication skills, works well across departments, and is comfortable using ERP software, Microsoft Excel, and other business applications. Primary Responsibilities Assist the Purchasing Manager with daily purchasing activities. Conduct and document weekly physical inventory counts. Review inventory levels and identify materials, parts, and supplies that need to be replenished. Sort, organize, and account for materials and inventory. Order steel, production materials, parts, supplies, and other items as needed. Create and maintain purchase orders in the company's ERP system. Verify purchasing information, including item descriptions, quantities, pricing, and delivery dates. Communicate with vendors regarding quotes, order status, availability, and delivery schedules. Follow up on open and overdue purchase orders. Work with Production to understand material requirements and help prevent shortages. Coordinate with Sales regarding customer-related material needs and scheduling priorities. Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory records using the ERP system, Excel, and other applications. Assist with resolving incorrect quantities, damaged materials, late deliveries, and other order discrepancies. Help evaluate pricing and availability from suppliers. Maintain organized electronic and paper purchasing records. Perform other purchasing and administrative duties assigned by the Purchasing Manager. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, operations, or a related field preferred. Purchasing, inventory, manufacturing, or administrative experience is helpful but not required. Comfortable learning and using ERP software and other business applications. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general computer applications. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Clear written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on open items. Ability to work collaboratively with Purchasing, Sales, Production, and outside suppliers. Dependable, professional, and able to work with limited supervision after training. Work Environment Full-time, in-office position. Standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
