Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Procurement Specialist supports production operations by sourcing and purchasing raw materials, components, and MRO (maintenance, repair, and operations) supplies. This role ensures the continuous flow of materials to meet production schedules and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Source and procure raw materials, components, and services needed for manufacturing operations. Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, and cost metrics. Create and manage purchase orders in ERP/MRP systems. Collaborate with production planning, engineering, and quality departments to align purchasing with operational needs. Maintain accurate vendor records and price lists. Negotiate long-term supply agreements to ensure material stability and cost efficiency. Track order status, resolve discrepancies, and expedite deliveries when necessary. Support cost-reduction and continuous improvement initiatives. Comply with ISO/AS or other quality management system requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Business, or related field. 3-7 years' purchasing experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Epicor, Infor, or JD Edwards). Understanding of supply chain logistics, inventory management, and production planning. Strong analytical, negotiation, and organizational skills. APICS or CPSM certification is a plus.
