This role is responsible for sourcing, supplier management, and cost optimization initiatives that directly impact production efficiency and overall business performance. The ideal candidate brings a strong balance of hands-on purchasing execution and strategic, data-driven decision-making, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally across Engineering, Production, and Finance. Key Responsibilities Procure direct production-related commodities, including electrical components, fasteners, fittings, insulation materials, machined/stamped metal components, outside services, paints, resale items, sealants, tubing, and wire Secure and negotiate quotations, pricing, delivery lead times, quality standards, and payment terms using total cost of ownership principles Monitor, control, and balance on-hand inventory levels to ensure continuity of supply while optimizing working capital Maintain accurate purchase cost data and support cost visibility across assigned commodities Expedite outstanding orders and proactively manage supplier delivery performance Resolve supplier non-conformance, invoice discrepancies, and receiving issues in a timely manner Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, including performance monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives Identify and qualify new and alternate sources of supply to mitigate risk and improve competitiveness Strategic /
Value-Add Responsibilities:
Analyze spending data, cost drivers, and market trends to support sourcing decisions and cost reduction initiatives Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned commodities, including supplier selection and risk mitigation Evaluate make vs. buy opportunities in collaboration with Engineering and Manufacturing Support new product development and prototype builds through early supplier involvement and cost estimation Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including cost savings, supplier performance, and on-time delivery Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers focused on quality, lead time, and cost efficiencies Qualifications 5+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment Experience sourcing direct production materials Proven negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable pricing and terms Strong analytical skills with experience in cost analysis, spend analysis, or data-driven decision-making Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, production-driven environment Strong communication and relationship management skills Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel Preferred Qualifications Experience with cost modeling, price analysis, or should-costing methodologies Exposure to manufacturing processes such as they relate to machining, assembly, or electrical components Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) or prototype sourcing Familiarity with
ISO 9001
