Job Description:
We are searching for an experienced Buyer/Planner at our Plant 13-Albion-IN facility. Dexter is the premier manufacturer and supplier of axles, suspension, brakes, doors, venting products, trailer parts, accessories, and towing components serving the commercial trailer, RV, heavy-duty, marine, agriculture, and manufactured housing markets has an opportunity for Buyer/Planner at our manufacturing facility located in Albion, IN. The Buyer/Planner is responsible for coordinating and executing procurement and planning activities to support operational requirements. This role ensures the timely and cost-effective acquisition of raw materials, goods, and services while maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and supplier performance. The Buyer/Planner collaborates cross-functionally to support production goals and drive continuous improvement within the supply chain function. Key Responsibilities Review and evaluate purchase requisitions for completeness and accuracy Source and engage vendors to obtain pricing, availability, and delivery information Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery performance, and overall value Analyze market trends and pricing to support cost-effective purchasing decisions Determine appropriate procurement methods, including direct purchases and competitive bidding Prepare and issue purchase orders and bid requests Review bid proposals and negotiate contracts within established budgetary guidelines and scope of authority Maintain accurate procurement records, including pricing, delivery performance, product quality, and inventory levels Partner with Quality, Operations, and suppliers to resolve issues related to defective or non-conforming materials and implement corrective actions Approve invoices for payment in accordance with company procedures Expedite material deliveries to meet production and operational needs Support continuous improvement initiatives within purchasing and planning functions Perform additional duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Entrepreneurial Studies, or a related field required Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in a manufacturing environment Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered Experience with ERP/MRP systems Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access) SQL experience preferred Strong written and verbal communication skills High level of attention to detail and organizational skills Analytical thinking and problem-solving capability Physical Requirements Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds Dexter is driven by our core values committed to
