Job Description
The Buyer is responsible for sourcing and managing direct material components for automotive programs, supporting cost reduction initiatives, supplier performance management, commodity strategy development, and commercial negotiations. This role will work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure business objectives, timing requirements, and cost targets are achieved. Key Responsibilities Manage assigned direct material commodities (interiors, latches, electrical, or similar automotive components). Achieve individual cost savings targets and support annual SCM cost reduction goals. Source and negotiate direct material components to meet cost, quality, and timing requirements. Identify and nominate qualified suppliers for cross-functional review. Negotiate commercial agreements and resolve supplier-related issues. Monitor supplier performance and implement improvement plans as needed. Participate in VA/VE workshops and cost reduction initiatives. Develop and maintain commodity strategies and market intelligence. Create management reports and presentations. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and suppliers to support program success. Perform other duties as assigned.
