Job Description:
We are looking for a detail-oriented Buyer to be responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials and supplies. The ideal candidate will possess a strong working knowledge of supply chain management concepts, practices, and procedures, with the ability to effectively manage procurement and delivery of products, components, and services in a fast-paced manufacturing and engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Build and maintain relationships with multiple suppliers and service contractors, continuously seeking to drive efficiencies. Work closely with the Inventory Coordinator to utilize surplus items when available and perform an annual audit to dispose of obsolete items. Monitor and evaluate supplier performance to ensure they meet specifications and delivery requirements. Document supplier performance in the ERP system. Collaborate with engineering and estimating to identify and qualify new suppliers. Enter qualified new suppliers into the ERP system and complete necessary credit applications and tax exemption documentation. Manage various purchasing systems to request quotes, negotiate pricing, and set delivery terms. Create purchase orders for products and components to ensure timely procurement and delivery. Work with shipping and receiving, engineering, and accounting to facilitate change orders and resolve pricing and fulfillment discrepancies. Cross-train to support similar positions at other locations as needed. Participate on cross-functional teams to share, evaluate, and implement best practices.
Education/Skills/Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience. Minimum of two years of purchasing experience, including procurement of major equipment. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with a professional and courteous demeanor. Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines. Minimal travel to various locations within the organization may be required.
