Strategic sourcing and supplier management support About the Role Our client, a leading national retail and consumer organization, is seeking a Sourcing Specialist / Strategic Sourcing Analyst to support its strategic sourcing team in Downtown Cincinnati. This is a highly analytical role that works behind the scenes to give Sourcing Managers the data, financial analysis, and business insights needed to make informed supplier and negotiation decisions. The Sourcing Manager owns the overall strategy, supplier relationships, and major negotiations. You'll own much of the analysis that helps shape those decisions. That includes evaluating supplier cost changes, analyzing cost structures and market drivers, comparing supplier proposals, building scenario models, identifying savings opportunities, and developing the business case behind negotiation strategies. Advanced Excel and strong analytical capabilities are critical. You should be comfortable taking large amounts of complex data and turning them into clear, actionable recommendations. What You'll Do Partner with Sourcing Managers on supplier, cost, and sourcing initiatives. Create and manage Requests for Proposal (RFPs) , analyze supplier responses, and compare quotes and proposals. Perform cost-change validation , investigating proposed supplier increases and determining whether changes are supported by underlying cost drivers. Conduct total-cost, comparative, and supplier analysis across products, categories, and vendors. Analyze cost structures, commodity inputs, market conditions, and other cost drivers to identify savings opportunities and areas for negotiation. Build advanced Excel models to analyze financial impacts, evaluate scenarios, and develop recommendations. Develop negotiation plans and analytical materials that help Sourcing Managers prepare for supplier negotiations. Build business cases and executive-ready materials using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint . Analyze supplier KPIs and performance, identify trends, and conduct root-cause analysis. Research relevant industry, market, supplier, and commodity trends. Assist with contract drafting and sourcing documentation. Communicate with suppliers and collaborate with internal cross-functional stakeholders. Track supplier and business performance metrics over time and identify emerging risks and opportunities. Support strategic sourcing initiatives with data-driven analysis, reporting, and recommendations. $30•33/hour, equivalent to approximately $62,400•68,640 annually. What We're Looking For Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel , particularly for analyzing large datasets, building models, and developing actionable insights. Experience with or strong understanding of sourcing, procurement, supplier management, or related analytical functions . Ability to collect, validate, consolidate, and analyze information from multiple data sources. Experience with cost analysis, cost-change validation, comparative analysis, or financial/data modeling . Ability to take complex information and translate it into clear business insights and recommendations. Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint . Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder-management skills. Ability to work onsite 5 days per week in Downtown Cincinnati, OH . Preferred Skills Previous Sourcing or Procurement experience. Retail or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) experience. Cost modeling and cost analysis. RFP development and management. Supplier performance analytics and KPI management. Supplier management experience. Negotiation planning and preparation. Business case development. Experience analyzing commodity, market, or other external cost drivers. Interview Process Onsite interview preferred. Microsoft Teams interview is also available.
