Senior Mechanical Buyer North Andover, MA area | On-site| Full-Time About the Role Our client is an established manufacturer of electromechanical products with a strong market position in the renewable energy space. They're hiring a Senior Mechanical Buyer to manage direct materials procurement at their North Andover, MA-area production facility. You'll take ownership of high-value mechanical commodities - fabricated sheet metal, plastic moldings, and custom mechanical components - from sourcing through delivery, using ERP tools to manage purchase orders, analyze material requirements, and keep master data clean for active manufacturing lines. Experience with metal fabrication and plastic molding is a strong plus; a solid foundation in mechanical procurement and ERP systems is what matters most. You'll work on-site alongside production, quality, and engineering to resolve material shortages, dimensional discrepancies, and quality issues in real time, while managing a supplier base that spans domestic and international sources. What You'll Do Manage procurement and planning for critical mechanical materials, including fabricated sheet metal, specialty mechanical components, and plastic moldings. Track purchase orders and monitor inventory levels using ERP and MRP planning tools. Identify, qualify, and manage suppliers, including performance and productivity improvement initiatives. Lead supplier negotiations, establish pricing agreements, and drive cost-reduction initiatives. Partner daily with production and warehouse teams to resolve delivery and quality issues. What You'll Bring Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. 5+ years of experience in mechanical purchasing, ideally within a small-to-mid-size manufacturing environment. Experience purchasing custom sheet-metal fabrications (stamping, welding, laser cutting) and plastic molded components (injection molding, rotomolding, thermoforming) preferred. Hands-on experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP system for procurement, inventory, and material tracking (required). Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables). Low-cost region sourcing experience, particularly Asia and Mexico, preferred. Ability to work 100% on-site and manage concurrent priorities in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
