The Materials Specialist is responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors. This position works closely with the Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing and Accounting groups.
Job Responsibilities:
Attends project kick-off meetings and orders materials and services as specified. Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine the most desirable suppliers. Works closely with Accounting department to help resolve any discrepancies between purchase orders and invoiced amounts. Follows up on open orders and expedites Purchasing and services as necessary to meet production dates. Assigns and tracks purchase order numbers. Enters all WIP orders into the accounting software system. Creates manual purchase orders for non-WIP items. Maintains general inventory items to meet production requirements and participates with Accounting department in year-end inventory count and reconciliation. Performs other related work and special projects such as presentations and PowerPoint files with data collection. Obeys the company's policies and procedures and observes all safety regulations.Requirements:
High level of organization skills Good interpersonal skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Microsoft Office Conflict resolution skills Ability to perform under pressure Ability to attend vendors visits and potential vendors trade shows and travel up to 10 percent.Education/Experience:
