Estimator Project Manager Job Description We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Estimator Project Manager to join our team. This role is essential in supporting a growing pipeline of defense work and improving job execution throughput within a contract manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will own projects from the initial opportunity or job request, through estimating, planning, internal processing, and delivery. Responsibilities Take ownership of projects once opportunities or job requests are received. Support estimating processes as needed. Coordinate the full manufacturing lifecycle through planning steps, routing, internal processing, outsourced operations, and materials ordering. Manage quality documentation and delivery requirements. Interface directly with key internal stakeholders, including leadership and estimating/sales leads. Help the team move efficiently from quote to completed builds with minimal friction. Essential Skills Experience in manufacturing project management in a job shop or contract manufacturing environment. Experience with estimating or quoting defense work or heavy manufacturing with defense exposure. Ability to interpret customer needs and translate them into internal steps, routings, and execution plans. Strong coordination skills in purchasing, production scheduling, supplier management, and quality documentation. Strong communication skills to ensure relevant stakeholders are informed at each stage. Competent in a fast-moving, hands-on, 'doer' environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with estimation, blueprint reading, GD&T, machining, materials, and ERP software. Ability to effectively collaborate with estimating/sales, shop floor leaders, quality, purchasing, and ownership. Work Environment The work setting is a manufacturing job shop with approximately 25 employees, focusing on low volume, high mix work including custom structures and assemblies. There is a stable mix of defense (40%) and commercial (60%) work, with common outsourcing for machining and waterjet operations. The role involves direct visibility with leadership and provides an opportunity to shape execution processes. The typical workday is from 6 AM to 4:30 PM. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Imlay City, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
