Junior Buyer / Buyer Muskegon, MI $55,000 — $65,000 Posted 2 weeks ago Muskegon, MI 49442, USA Junior Buyer / Buyer Muskegon, MI | Manufacturing Our client, a well-established manufacturing company in the Muskegon area, is seeking a Junior Buyer / Buyer to join its growing supply chain team. This is an excellent opportunity for either an experienced Buyer or an individual looking to grow into a purchasing career. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with an MRP or ERP system , strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage purchasing and inventory-related activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Create, maintain, and track purchase orders for inventory and non-inventory items. Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, quantities, lead times, order acknowledgements, and delivery schedules. Monitor open purchase orders and follow up on late deliveries, shortages, pricing discrepancies, and receiving issues. Maintain accurate supplier, pricing, purchasing, and delivery information within the ERP/MRP system. Assist with sourcing materials, obtaining quotes, and evaluating supplier pricing and lead times. Support supplier performance monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives. Inventory Management Monitor inventory requirements, material availability, and potential shortages. Prepare and distribute weekly consignment pull reports. Assist with quarterly consignment inventory reconciliations. Research and resolve purchasing and inventory discrepancies. Support efforts to improve inventory accuracy and reduce shortages, excess inventory, and obsolete materials. Cross-Functional Support Partner with Operations, Planning, Warehouse, Accounting, and other internal teams to resolve purchasing and material-related issues. Communicate material shortages, delivery concerns, and supplier issues to the appropriate stakeholders. Maintain supplier records and purchasing documentation, including country-of-origin information. Assist with reporting, data entry, recordkeeping, and audit-related documentation. Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to purchasing, inventory, and supplier performance. Qualifications Hands-on experience with an MRP or ERP system required . Purchasing, procurement, materials planning, production scheduling, inventory control, or warehouse experience preferred. Previous purchasing experience is preferred but not required for the Junior Buyer level. Manufacturing or distribution experience preferred. Basic to intermediate Microsoft Excel skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on open items. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable communicating with suppliers and internal departments. Ability to identify discrepancies, solve problems, and take initiative. Associate's or bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred but not required. Experience with country-of-origin documentation, import/export requirements, or consignment inventory is a plus.
Salary Range:
$50,000 - $65,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Position Levels Junior Buyer:
Ideal for a candidate with relevant MRP/ERP experience and transferable skills who is looking to develop their career in purchasing and supply chain. Training will be provided on purchasing processes, supplier management, and company-specific procedures.
Buyer:
Ideal for a candidate with direct purchasing experience who can independently manage purchase orders, supplier relationships, material requirements, shortages, and inventory-related issues. Compensation will be based on the candidate's experience, purchasing knowledge, MRP/ERP proficiency, and ability to perform the responsibilities of the role ZRCFS #LI-KB1 #
