As a Buyer, you are responsible for sourcing raw materials for production based on total cost, managing supplier performance, maintaining inventory levels, mitigating supply risks, and collaborating with stakeholders to drive cost savings, quality, and operational efficiencies.
What You'll Do:
Quote and award bid packages based on Total Cost of Ownership, as well as identify cost savings and cost avoidance opportunities for assigned commodity area. Work closely with vendors by conducting quarterly performance reviews and occasional on-site production facility audits to support exceptional supplier management. Maintain proper inventory levels of assigned parts, expediting when necessary, and working with supplier base and Engineering to identify solutions to component supply issues. Keep current on industry-wide pricing trends, technological innovations, and overall market conditions through research and effective supplier interaction. Communicate and present ideas with both internal stakeholders and suppliers to drive business results. Support "Design for Manufacturing and Assembly" initiatives by seeking out desired solutions. Review quality, delivery and service metrics and take appropriate corrective actions with suppliers. Evaluate supply chain risk in the supply base by expanding or consolidating suppliers as appropriate. Other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field required Minimum of 3+ years of experience in purchasing and negotiation preferred Strong communication skills, both written and oral Analytical problem-solving skills, attention to detail, organization, and time management skills Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word) Ability to handle multiple tasks and be a flexible team player Ability to make cost-based business decisions
