Position Summary:
Responsible for negotiating the purchase of quality protein products at competitive prices and maintaining adequate inventories to meet customer demand. Functions as a team member within the department and cross-functions, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.
Position Responsibilities:
Attain targeted profit margins as determined by the company's business goals. Maintain product costing and pricing and ensure accurate purchase orders. Maintain accurate product costing, pricing, and purchase orders for poultry products. Develop and implement purchasing strategies that ensure poultry products are sourced in the most cost-effective and efficient manner. Select and evaluate suppliers based on supply reliability, service levels, product quality, innovation, market responsiveness, and overall value. Build and maintain strong vendor relationships by resolving issues related to product quality, invoicing, delivery performance, and service concerns. Negotiate product pricing, purchase quantities, promotional opportunities, and long-term supply agreements to ensure a consistent supply of poultry products. Manage poultry inventory levels to achieve designated inventory goals while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory. Effectively manage the disposition of slow-moving and obsolete poultry inventory. Consult with vendors regarding current orders, market conditions, new poultry products, and industry trends. Initiate orders, schedule deliveries and process related documentation and records. Partner with sales teams by providing product availability, pricing information, and recommendations regarding pricing structures and product opportunities. Investigate poultry product quality concerns and collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve issues promptly. Complete special projects and strategic sourcing initiatives as assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Benefits Information Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience 1 - 2 years Purchasing or related area Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing/inventory management systems.
Preferred qualifications:
Associates/2-year technical: Procurement, business management or related area Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or related field 2-4 years Purchasing experience within foodservice industry, protein, poultry, or distribution industry. Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) or equivalent Experience with poultry commodity markets, supplier negotiations, and inventory planning.
