Job Description

Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Purchaser to join our Maintenance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing vendor relationships to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. Your expertise in supply chain management systems and procurement processes will drive operational efficiency and support our company's strategic objectives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced environment where your negotiation skills and technical knowledge will make a tangible impact. Responsibilities
  • Perform MROpurchasing activities with a high level of integrity.
  • Provide Storeroom performance reports as required.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with suppliers.
  • Negotiate price, terms, and conditions with current and new suppliers.
  • Maintain a heavy volume of purchase orders efficiently.
  • Evaluate supplier quality and performance through frequent contact with their decision makers.
  • Renegotiate pricing with non-contracted vendors for additional savings.
  • Monitor suppliers to increase their service levels, reduce costs for the same service and improve reliability.
  • Optimize the cost of holding spare inventory and potential downtime impact to operations.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX, Plant and Corporate financial policies for inventory management.
  • Verifying depleted store's part count accuracy before issuing a replenishment requisition.
  • Issue purchase orders.
  • Follow-up on purchase orders and verify shipments.
  • Expedite any outstanding purchase orders.
  • Services customers with parts and supplies as requested.
  • Maintains proficiency with various types of communications such as e-mail, telephone, FAX, letters, etc. E-mail is used to communicate with vendors and storeroom associates
  • Track parts and stores usage to determine strategy and levels of onsite equipment, parts, and stores.
  • Recommend modifications of stock levels based on previous consumption and present orders.
  • Performs housekeeping duties as required.
  • Any other tasked deemed necessary. Qualifications
  • Clerical skills (including computer skills).
  • Proficient with office communications equipment (I.E.: e-mail, copiers, etc.)
  • Knowledge of machinery, parts, and equipment.
  • Organizing skills.
  • Highly service oriented.
  • Understands the importance of documentation.
  • Understands the concepts of asset management.
  • Able to identify irregularities in inventory movement.
  • Able to assist in development of standard procedures.
  • Able to use bar coding system to receive, identify location, issue, and inventory count.
  • High school education or higher.
  • Can perform work without direct supervision - self-motivated. Relationships
  • Shared responsibility with Planner, Storeroom Supervisor, Maintenance Supervision, CMMS, and Purchasing to determine usage, reorder point, Min/Max and quantity stocked.
  • Shared responsibility with Storeroom Supervisor for the analysis of usage rates and the identification of slow turnover items.
  • Quick response to identified out-of-stock conditions and daily report generated.
