Firm Overview Morgan Construction Management (MCM) provides exceptional construction project management services to our clients in various markets that comprise of government, transportation, educational and religious institutions, housing and commercial. Since 2011, MCM serves its clients in the private and public sectors. MCM manages all phases of projects from programming to implementation and from pre-construction to post construction. Job Summary MCM is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Pre-construction / Pre-Procurement Coordinator with extensive knowledge in large scale construction projects and with expertise in construction document assembly, construction scheduling, quality control, and both internal and inter- department coordination. The Pre-construction / Pre-Procurement Coordinator will support the early phases of construction projects by coordinating construction document assembly, assisting with project scheduling, maintaining quality control processes, and facilitating communication between internal teams and external departments. This role is responsible for ensuring that project information is organized, accurate, complete, and distributed in a timely manner to support estimating, procurement, planning, and project execution. Essential responsibilities will include the following: Serve as a coordination point between estimating, procurement, operations, project management, accounting, contracts, design teams, and other departments. Facilitate communication to ensure project requirements, deadlines, and responsibilities are clearly understood. Schedule and participate in pre-construction meetings, procurement planning meetings, document review meetings, and handoff meetings. Track action items, follow up with responsible parties, and ensure timely completion of tasks. Support smooth information flow between departments to improve efficiency and reduce project risk. Review construction documents, bid packages, and procurement information for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements. Support quality control procedures related to document assembly, scope alignment, scheduling, and communication. Verify that drawings, specifications, scope documents, and procurement information align before release. Assist in identifying discrepancies, gaps, or conflicts in project documents and coordinate resolution with relevant departments. Maintain organized records to support audits, reviews, and internal quality standards. Assist in developing and maintaining preliminary construction schedules, procurement schedules, and milestone trackers. Coordinate schedule input from estimators, project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal departments. Track key deadlines for bids, document submissions, approvals, procurement activities, and project start dates. Help identify schedule conflicts, missing information, or potential delays and communicate them to the appropriate team members. Support schedule updates and reporting during the pre-construction phase.
Additional Functions including the following:
Collect, organize, and maintain construction documents including drawings, specifications, addenda, RFIs, scopes of work, bid packages, and project manuals. Review documents for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and proper formatting prior to distribution. Assist in preparing pre-construction packages, procurement packages, subcontractor bid packages, and internal review documents. Maintain document control systems and ensure all team members are working from the most current information. Track revisions, updates, and document changes throughout the pre-construction and procurement phases. Coordinate with estimating, procurement, project management, design teams, and subcontractors to support early project planning. Assist with scope reviews, bid comparisons, vendor coordination, and material procurement preparation. Help identify long-lead items and support early procurement planning to reduce project delays. Maintain procurement logs, bid trackers, submittal requirements, and pre-construction checklists. Support the preparation of project handoff documents from pre-construction to operations. Minimum Requirements 3 to 5 years of experience in construction administration, pre-construction coordination, procurement support, project coordination, document control or a related construction role. Strong understanding of construction documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical documents. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent communication and coordination skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and project requirements. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience with construction management or document control software such as Procore, Trimble, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, Autodesk Build, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms. Experience working with construction documents, schedules, bid packages, RFIs, submittals, and procurement tracking. Familiarity with procurement processes, subcontractor bidding, vendor coordination, and long-lead material tracking. Experience supporting commercial, industrial, or public-sector construction projects. Knowledge of quality control procedures and construction workflow best practices. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities as follows: Bachelor's degree in a related field.
