Job Description

Scenic View Landscaping is looking for an organized, proactive Purchasing / Materials Coordinator to manage purchasing, material preparation, deliveries, and inventory for our landscape and hardscape installation projects. This is a key position in our production process. You will help take projects from sold and scheduled to fully prepared for installation , making sure selections are finalized, materials are ordered, deliveries are coordinated, and our crews have what they need before arriving at the jobsite. You will work closely with our Sales Team, Lead Project Manager, Install Coordinator, vendors, customers, and field crews . This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in landscaping, hardscaping, masonry supply, construction materials, nursery operations, purchasing, or a similar industry who is highly organized and enjoys taking ownership of a process from start to finish. What You'll DoProject Purchasing & Preparation Review upcoming sold and scheduled projects for material requirements. Review proposals, plans, quantities, selections, and project specifications. Identify missing information or customer selections before projects begin. Communicate with sales and production staff to resolve missing information. Order landscape and hardscape materials for upcoming projects. Order plant material directly from nurseries based on project specifications and schedules. Coordinate pavers, wall block, natural stone, decorative stone, drainage materials, lighting, aggregates, mulch, soil, and other project-specific materials. Confirm pricing, quantities, availability, lead times, and delivery dates. Stay ahead of backorders, shortages, substitutions, and other potential material issues. Material Deliveries & Job Readiness Work closely with the Install Coordinator and Lead Project Manager to stay ahead of scheduled project start dates. Ensure required materials are ordered and accounted for before installation begins. Schedule materials for delivery to the jobsite prior to the project start whenever applicable. Confirm delivery dates, quantities, and jobsite information with vendors. Track outstanding orders and follow through until delivery is confirmed. Communicate immediately when a material issue could affect a scheduled project. Help ensure crews arrive prepared to begin production without unnecessary material delays. Customer Material Selections Meet with homeowners when final material selections are needed. Assist customers with paver colors and styles, wall block, caps, natural stone, decorative stone, and other project-specific selections. Coordinate samples or supplier/showroom visits when necessary. Document final selections and communicate them to the appropriate team members and vendors. Inventory & Yard Management Monitor and maintain inventory of commonly used landscape and hardscape materials. Keep the company yard appropriately stocked with mulch, topsoil, RCA, clean stone, decorative stone, river rock, drainage supplies, and other frequently used materials. Track incoming and outgoing materials. Reorder materials before critical inventory runs out. Help prevent shortages, duplicate orders, unnecessary purchases, and excess inventory. Maintain an organized inventory control system. Vendor & Administrative Coordination Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, nurseries, and material vendors. Coordinate deliveries around the installation schedule. Resolve shortages, damaged materials, incorrect deliveries, and substitutions. Maintain accurate purchasing records, order confirmations, delivery information, and customer selections. Assist with purchase orders, receipts, invoices, and job-cost information as needed. Visit suppliers, nurseries, customer properties, the company yard, or jobsites when needed. What We're Looking For Experience in landscaping, hardscaping, construction, purchasing, materials management, masonry supply, nursery operations, or a related industry is preferred. Knowledge of landscape and hardscape materials is strongly preferred. Familiarity with pavers, retaining wall products, natural stone, aggregates, mulch, soil, drainage materials, and plant material is a major plus. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent follow-through and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Strong communication and customer-service skills. Comfortable working with homeowners, vendors, salespeople, project managers, office staff, and field crews. Basic computer skills and ability to learn company software. Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities. Comfortable working in both an office and field environment. Valid driver's license. The Person We're Looking For We are looking for someone who thinks ahead instead of reacting after there is already a problem . You should be the type of person who looks at what is coming up, figures out what is needed, identifies what's missing, follows up until you have an answer, and makes sure materials are where they need to be before the crew needs them. This is not strictly a desk position and not strictly a field position . Some days may include reviewing upcoming projects, placing orders, and coordinating deliveries from the office. Other days may require visiting a supplier, nursery, customer's property, company yard, or jobsite. The right person is organized, accountable, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership . Compensation $65,000-$75,000 per year, based on experience and industry knowledge. Candidates with previous experience in landscaping, hardscaping, masonry supply, nursery operations, construction-material purchasing, or similar industries are strongly encouraged to apply. About Scenic View Landscaping Scenic View Landscaping is a growing Central New Jersey landscape company providing professional landscape installation, hardscaping, drainage, irrigation, lighting, maintenance, and related outdoor services. Our goal for this position is simple: create a smooth transition from Sales → Purchasing → Scheduling → Production so projects are properly prepared, materials are where they need to be, and our crews can focus on delivering quality work for our customers.

Have you previously been responsible for purchasing, ordering, inventory management, or coordinating material deliveries? Are you comfortable communicating directly with customers to help coordinate material selections such as paver colors, wall products, or stone selections? This position requires both office and field work, including occasional visits to suppliers, nurseries, jobsites, and customer properties. Are you comfortable with this and do you have a valid driver's license? How many years of experience do you have working with landscape, hardscape, masonry, nursery, or construction materials?
