Job Description

Amerlux, a leader in architectural lighting, designs and manufacturing of innovative interior and exterior lighting solutions for commercial, retail and supermarket sectors is looking for a Senior Buyer to join our team in our Oakland NJ facility. This position requires being on-site five days per week. The Senior Buyer is an important position responsible for a 10,000+ purchased parts inventory in a fast-paced global Lighting industry. The position reports directly to the Manager of Purchasing and rolls up to the COO. This position is responsible for the purchasing/procurement processes supporting the successful manufacturing and assemble-to-order of the company's custom and architectural lighting solution products. This position will also support non-production purchasing needs of the company. A strong background in procurement is required.
Key Job Responsibilities Include:
Daily review and analysis of MRP planning workbench, supply and demand details, quantities and timing; schedule orders accordingly for all part families. Maintain optimum levels of inventory to support production and sales requirements. Analyze daily MRP runs for shortages and issues. Act as liaison between Purchasing, Engineering, Customer Support, Inventory facilitating quick communication. Review and communicate to Purchasing any material shortages as reported on MRP, Pick Lists, or found during the picking process. Confer with vendors to expedite deliveries of materials to eliminate difficulties and delays in Supply Chain and manage the lead times. Respond within one to two hours to all requests from Production and Customer Service regarding shortages and/or parts availability. Daily Purchasing "superuser" for Oracle applications: Purchasing, MRP and Supply Chain modules (includes maintaining Item Master). Utilize Oracle to determine what shortages exist and the best channel to resolve them. Ensure product availability and continually seek best pricing for all part families. Ensure suppliers perform to high standard of price, delivery and quality. Review invoice discrepancies and take any corrective action. Maintain physical inventory accuracy working with a cross-functional team including Purchasing, Inventory Control/Receiving, Engineering, Production and Customer Support. Attend bi-weekly Production meetings. Requires attending conference call meeting outside normal working hours with overseas suppliers. Periodic international travel/visits to vendors as needed. Other duties as deemed appropriate and prioritized by Management or Finance.
Qualifications Include:
Bachelor Degree. Ability to travel up to 20% of time to international vendors. 6 to 8 years' experience in Purchasing/Procurement. Manufacturing Industry experience required, including use of Supply Chain and ERP/MRP technology applications (Oracle or SAP preferred). Strong background in procurement is required. Lighting Industry experience preferred. This position will be responsible for participation in the transistion from an Oracle based applications system to a SAP based application system in the next 12 months. Individuals need to be flexible and have used a purchasing application to process their work. The salary range for this position is between $90,000 and $100,000 annually, based on prior skills and experiences.
