• Why does the job exist? The purpose of this position is to fulfill district procurements needs and best sources considering cost, quality of goods and services, delivery time, and compliance with New Mexico Procurement Code. How does it get done? This position will initiate, review, and process all approved purchasing documents for procurement of materials, services, and equipment during the procurement process. This will include purchasing of machinery, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, raw or semi-finished materials for manufacturing or services necessary for the operation of DOT. This position will also cover as a warehouse clerk in the absence of the warehouse clerk which will consist of taking and fulfilling orders from internal customers and provide exceptional customer service. Provide and assist with providing procurement training to staff as needed. Reviews accounting reports, contracts, and agreements for compliance with state and federal regulations. Prepares, analyzes, and maintains budget and corresponding financial records related to procurement or contract services. Who are the customers? NMDOT employees and management. Ideal Candidate NMDOT employees and management. Minimum Qualification High School diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of experience in accounting, finance, purchasing, procurement, and/or warehouse clerking. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Business/Personal Reference check and Driver's License verification are required, and employment is conditional pending results. Working Conditions Work is performed primarily in an office setting with occasionally working outdoors and with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Work extended hours and occasional travel may be required.
