This is a critical, decision‑making role in a small shop environment. You'll manage purchasing and inventory while supporting order entry and customer communication when ownership is unavailable. If you understand how a machine shop really runs — and can keep parts, material, and tooling flowing — we want to talk. What You'll Be Responsible For Purchasing raw material, tooling, sublet operations, gauges, and shop supplies Maintaining inventory levels for repeat work and rush jobs Negotiating pricing and lead times with suppliers Managing approved vendors and expediting orders when needed Tracking and verifying material certifications Coordinating outside services (heat treat, plating, grinding, etc.) Working directly with shop leads to prevent downtime Assisting with order entry and customer communication as needed Making real‑time decisions to keep jobs moving What We're Looking For Required Experience in manufacturing or machine‑shop purchasing Understanding of metal grades, tooling, and industrial suppliers Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and prioritize changing demands Comfortable communicating with vendors, machinists, customers & making phone calls Preferred Job‑shop experience Inventory management background ERP/MRP system experience Experience in a small‑company or family‑owned business

Pay:

$30.00 - $38.00 per hour
