Job Description
Overview A commodity buyer provides stores with the material they need in a timely manner and at a price which enables them to have a market advantage, assists stores with long term bids and technical questions, and is responsible for negotiating contracts, purchasing agreements, and other legal documents. Responsibilities Proactively buy within pre-determined guidelines set by Lead Buyer Negotiate purchasing agreements with vendors who mostly annualize $1 million - $5 million Buy for area managers who annualize $60 million to $100 million Qualifications Spreadsheet and Internet Software Order Processing System Project Manager Software Inventory Software Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business reports, technical procedures and /or government regulations; write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
