Job Title:
Purchasing Agent Job Description The Purchasing Agent will quote and purchase electronic components, materials, and services for an electronics manufacturing facility. The role focuses on working with an existing supplier base, negotiating pricing and terms, and ensuring high quality and cost-effective procurement that aligns with company goals. This position offers strong growth potential for someone interested in building a career in purchasing and procurement. Responsibilities Develop and implement procurement strategies for electronic components, materials, and related services. Identify cost-saving opportunities while ensuring alignment with overall company objectives. Evaluate and select products based on quality, cost, and delivery performance criteria. Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to support long-term collaboration. Maintain professional and responsive relationships with end customers. Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve the best overall value. Address and resolve quality issues, delivery delays, or other supplier-related concerns in a timely manner. Create and manage purchase orders accurately and efficiently using internal systems. Use data and reports to analyze purchasing performance and develop actionable insights for improvement. Collaborate with internal teams in a fast-paced environment to meet production and delivery requirements. Essential Skills Experience with purchase order creation and management in a purchasing or procurement-related role (such as Procurement Administrator, Purchasing Administrator, or Purchasing Agent). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking, analyzing, and reporting purchasing data. Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing, terms, and conditions from suppliers. Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with suppliers, internal teams, and customers. Solid problem-solving abilities to address quality, delivery, and cost issues. Ability to analyze data and develop actionable insights that support procurement decisions. Familiarity with administrative tasks in a purchasing or procurement environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications ERP system experience or proficiency, with the ability to learn new systems quickly. Interest in building a career in procurement or purchasing, with motivation to grow into a buyer-level role. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative, and results-oriented environment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities. Work Environment This role is based in an electronics manufacturing facility with a fast-paced, collaborative, and results-oriented atmosphere. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The dress code is business casual. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers, using tools such as Microsoft Excel and an ERP system to support daily purchasing activities. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shippensburg, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
