Job Description
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for inventory forecasting, purchase order execution, cost estimation support, and inbound logistics. This role ensures product availability, cost efficiency, and timely delivery through effective supply chain management and strong vendor relationships. This position is detail-oriented, process-driven, and focused on continuous improvement across purchasing and supply chain functions. This position reports to the Purchasing Manager.
Responsibilities:
Manage inventory forecasting and demand planning for domestic and international vendors Create, manage, and finalize purchase orders, including pricing, quantities, ship dates, and container planning Monitor key purchasing metrics, including COGS, inventory turnover, and backlog Partner with vendors to obtain competitive pricing, estimates, samples, specifications, and proofs for new and existing products Build strong vendor relationships and negotiate pricing and payment terms. Monitor supplier performance, including quality, lead times, on-time delivery, responsiveness, and cost Manage open purchase orders and maintain accurate shipment and arrival information in NetSuite Coordinate inbound freight, container shipments, customs clearance, freight forwarders, and warehouse deliveries Review vendor and freight invoices for pricing, quantity, and rate accuracy Maintain accurate vendor, item, SKU, pricing, landed cost, and product certification records Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to ensure product availability, cost efficiency, and timely delivery Identify opportunities to improve purchasing and supply chain processes Required Skills, Education and Experience Bachelor's degree 3+ years of experience in the purchasing, procurement, or supply chain industry 3+ years of hands-on experience with inventory forecasting, demand planning, purchase order management, and vendor management Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment Desired Skills, Education and Experience Working knowledge of ERP systems; NetSuite experience Experience with freight forwarding and inbound logistics Strong vendor negotiation and relationship-management skills Benefits Hybrid Work Schedule Medical/Dental/Vision insurance with flex spend Paid time off plus holidays 401K plan Supplemental insurance optionsJob Type:
