Help build a homebuilding company—and the technology behind it. Scott Alan Homes is a new homebuilder with ownership that includes a local development company. We have 45 lots currently lined up in one community and hundreds more in the pipeline. We're looking for someone who wants to get in early, work directly with leadership, and grow with us. Your primary focus will be new home construction budgets, costing, material takeoffs, and purchasing. You'll also help shape the custom software we've developed to make homebuilding more efficient. Construction experience is preferred, but we will train the right person and cross-train you across every aspect of homebuilding. Bring strong AI skills, an analytical mind, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. What You'll Do You'll work with AI agents built into Cornerstone PM (cornerstonepm.ai), our own construction management software, designed to automate approximately 90% of the costing process. You'll guide the agents, provide accurate information, check their work, and handle decisions that require human judgment.

Your responsibilities will include:

Construction budgets and costing: Use our AI agents to build, review, and maintain budgets by home, floorplan, trade, and material.

Material takeoffs:

Work with AI to extract quantities from plans and specifications, verify results, and catch missing items.

Bid comparisons:

Request supplier and subcontractor quotes, use AI to compare pricing and scopes, and resolve discrepancies with vendors.

Options and upgrades:

Calculate costs for buyer selections, structural options, and plan changes.

Purchasing:

Prepare and review purchase orders, coordinate with vendors, and keep purchases aligned with approved budgets.

Cost tracking:

Monitor committed and actual costs, investigate variances, and flag potential overruns.

Pricing data:

Keep labor rates, material pricing, quotes, and specifications current so our systems have reliable information. You'll Also Help Build the Software Ever used a program and thought, "Why doesn't it just do this?" Here, you'll get to help make that happen. You'll work directly with our team to test new AI agents, suggest features, find bugs, and turn real construction challenges into better software workflows. Your ideas and daily experience will help shape Cornerstone PM as we develop it. You don't need to be a software developer. You do need to enjoy experimenting with technology, explaining what works and what doesn't, and helping us improve it. AI Skills Are Required—and Will Be Verified We expect practical experience with tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or comparable AI platforms. Asking occasional questions or using AI only to rewrite emails is not enough for this role. You should be comfortable working with documents and spreadsheets, giving clear instructions, refining your approach, checking calculations, and recognizing when AI has produced an incorrect or unsupported answer. During the hiring process, you will complete a practical exercise and demonstrate how you use AI. We will evaluate your workflow, your ability to verify results, and your understanding of the work produced. Effective AI use will remain an ongoing expectation of the job. Careful attention to quantities, pricing, scope, and documentation. Initiative and the ability to follow through without constant direction. Clear communication with vendors, subcontractors, and our team. Curiosity about construction and enthusiasm for improving how work gets done. Accountability for accurate results—AI is a tool, and you're responsible for checking its work. Experience in estimating, purchasing, construction coordination, accounting, operations, or another analytical role is helpful.
