mlujan@lanl.gov What You Will Do Join the Associate Laboratory Directorate for Weapons Engineering (ALDW), where you will contribute to the nation's stockpile stewardship mission and support critical weapons engineering and testing efforts. As a Vendor Liaison Specialist 2, you will play a key role in shaping and executing procurement and contractual activities that directly support this mission. In this position, you will collaborate closely with technical staff to plan, develop, and manage procurement packages from initiation through execution. You will help define contract specifications, including sole source and Buy American justifications, and support technical evaluations for complex subcontracts. Serving as a central point of coordination, you will act as a liaison between technical requesters, subcontractors, Acquisition Services Management (ASM), and Program Office stakeholders. Your work will ensure procurement activities meet safety, quality, and environmental requirements while aligning with Laboratory policies. You will also monitor contract performance, generate purchase requests, and ensure all required documentation is complete and accurate. What You NeedMinimum Job Requirements:
Procurement Expertise:
Demonstrated experience managing procurement documentation and processes, including Purchase Requests (PRs), exhibits, sole source justifications, Statements of Work (SOWs), and contracts. Proven ability to develop and administer technical contracts, along with hands-on experience utilizing procurement mechanisms such as PCards, Basic Ordering Agreements (BOAs), and purchase orders.Customer Service:
Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service while interacting professionally with personnel at all levels, including executive management and external vendors. Proven experience serving as a primary liaison among technical requesters, subcontractors, engineers, and business units to ensure timely and accurate procurement execution. Skilled at delivering high-quality support in fast-paced, dynamic environments and collaborating effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.Communication Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication abilities, with a proven capacity to convey information clearly and concisely. Skilled at providing effective guidance and constructive feedback to diverse stakeholders.Organizational Skills:
High attention to detail combined with strong organizational and analytical abilities. Capable of managing complex procurement processes, balancing multiple priorities, and adapting effectively in dynamic, fast-paced environments while ensuring accuracy and compliance.Education/Experience:
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant area from an accredited institution and a minimum of 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.Desired Qualifications:
Experience in weapons-related procurement. Experience managing a high volume of materials for multiple customers. Familiarity with DOE regulations and LANL procurement systems. Active DOE Q clearance or the ability to obtain one.Work Schedule:
9/80 work schedule or a 5/40 work schedule.Work Location:
The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice. Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
