Job Description
David Weekley Homes is seeking a Purchasing Agent to join our team. The Purchasing Agent is a strategic role responsible for overseeing comprehensive category management and sourcing programs at the division level. This position involves managing cost categories, negotiating contracts, managing the bid process with preferred partners, demonstrating knowledge of building regulations, and maintaining quality standards.
Job Responsibilities:
Own accuracy and management of hard costs for assigned categories. Partner with national and regional category management teams to align sourcing strategies. Establish and maintain category and sourcing programs with preferred partners. Manage bid processes end-to-end, including RFPs, proposal analysis, negotiations, and final cost submittals. Negotiate contracts, model discounts, and pricing to ensure best value, performance, and consistency Maintain item and unit pricing and report updates to regional and national teams Collaborate with the operations, engineering, and purchasing teams on scope of work, plan changes, and lot-unique requirements. Support warranty issue resolution and ongoing performance management with preferred partners. Participate in plan walks, redline reviews, and value/design improvement initiatives. Qualifications 2+ years in residential construction operations or purchasing preferred. Excellent negotiation skills with demonstrated success in the Charleston area. Strong math and MS Excel computer skills are essential, exposure to JD Edwards beneficial. Bachelor's degree in business, construction management, or related experience is a plus. Ability to read and thoroughly understand residential blueprints.
