Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Buyer to join our procurement team! In this pivotal role, you will lead strategic sourcing initiatives, manage vendor relationships, and oversee purchasing operations to ensure optimal inventory levels and cost efficiencies. Your expertise in supply chain management systems and procurement processes will drive value across the organization. Duties :
  • Automotive experience purchasing safety critical components.
  • Research, select and purchase quality products and materials.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers.
  • Provide analysis on costs, new and existing and review cost reduction activities.
  • Prepare reports and updates as and when needed.
  • Review opportunities for continuous improvement and business improvements.
  • Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practices tools and methods.
  • Able to read drawings & understand GD&T.
  • Implement and manage cost breakdowns
  • Experience in being a part of the creation and review process of suppliers:
  • Process Flow, Control Plan, & PFMEA
  • PPAP
  • Root Cause Analysis
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes specific to:
  • Machining
  • Casting
  • Cold Heading / Fasteners
  • Forging
  • Powder Metal
  • Skilled in root cause analysis to support Quality
  • Proven background in creating supply base strategies
  • Experience with SAP (or ERP system)
  • Leadership skills required to own the best cost, support product development with cost effective manufacturing suggestions, launch new programs on time, and drive continuous improvement through supply base.
Other responsibilities include:
Minimizing production time and cost by purchasing quality products at a minimum, with delivery dates to support production. Supplier qualification, selection, and negotiations. Ordering based on MRP demands. Overall management of the suppliers and commodities assigned. Implement and manage cost breakdowns. Ownership of best cost, support product development with effective manufacturing suggestions, launch new programs on time, and drive continuous improvement through supply base. Management of the entire purchasing area Qualifications Proven experience in purchasing management within a manufacturing or supply chain environment. 4 year degree or equivalent work experience in a related field. 5+ years of purchasing experience (manufacturing environment preferred). Extensive knowledge of SAP experience (or ERP system) Knowledge of vendor sources, products, and purchasing procedures. MRP / inventory planning and control experience Negotiation skills, sourcing knowledge, and contract analysis. Continuous improvement / lean manufacturing concepts. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Self-motivated with exceptional prioritizing and multi-tasking abilities; work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Strong understanding of materials management, inventory control, logistics, and supply chain processes. Proficiency in procurement software and purchasing management systems supported by technical expertise. Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of successful vendor negotiations and vendor relationship management. Skilled in Excel data analysis for reporting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making. Familiarity with accounting software integration related to procurement activities is a plus.
