Job Description
Purchaser Position Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Purchaser to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing equipment, materials, goods, and services while managing vendor relationships and overseeing inventory and receiving processes. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to analyze data and support operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Maintain and oversee inventory control systems to ensure accurate and timely inventory records. Establish and monitor minimum and maximum stock levels to support service operations. Develop and implement inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels and reduce carrying costs. Monitor inventory to prevent shortages and overstock situations. Coordinate with project managers to ensure materials and supplies meet project requirements. Conduct routine inventory audits and reconciliations to maintain inventory accuracy. Track inventory performance metrics and provide reports and recommendations to leadership. Develop and implement purchasing strategies to ensure cost-effective procurement of goods and services. Negotiate pricing, terms, and agreements with suppliers and vendors. Build and maintain strong working relationships with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams. Respond to staff and management inquiries regarding purchasing procedures and order status updates. Manage purchase orders and ensure timely tracking and expediting when necessary. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. Previous purchasing experience preferred, especially within the petroleum, plumbing, HVAC, construction, industrial, or agricultural industries. Demonstrated ability to achieve cost savings and maintain strong vendor partnerships. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through. Proficiency with inventory tracking systems and purchasing software is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods while working on computers and analyzing data. Ability to move throughout company facilities and attend meetings as needed. Ability to lift and move heavy materials when necessary.
