Job Description

Senior Accountant We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team in Rapid City. Our firm offers personalized tax, financial, and estate planning services tailored to each client's unique situation and coordinated with their trusted advisors. The Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting our business, trust and estate clients, working closely with our business bookkeeping month-end close, tax, estate, and financial planning teams to deliver accurate accounting, and high-quality client service. This individual will combine strong technical accounting skills with sound judgment and clear communication.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Month-end Close Oversight:
Provideleadership, management and accountability to bookkeeping colleagues as part of the month-end close process for the various business clients of the firm
Client Coordination:
Collaborate with financial planners, trustees, beneficiaries, attorneys, and other professionals to ensure timely and accurate trust administration
Distribution Support:
Calculate and process trust distributions, ensuring compliance with trust documents and tax requirements
Work Preparation & Review:
Review client-provided financial data, identify discrepancies, and ensure information is accurate and complete
Process Improvement:
Support the development and implementation of trust accounting systems, workflows, and internal controls
Trust Accounting:
Maintain accurate accounting records for client trusts and estates, including cash reconciliations, journal entries, principal vs. income allocations, and supporting documentation in accordance with applicable fiduciary accounting standards
Fiduciary Reporting:
Prepare periodic trust accounting and beneficiary statements; assist with court accountings when required
Qualification and Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field CPA certification or candidacy preferred 2+ years of accounting experience; audit experience preferred Working knowledge of GAAP Proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas) and accounting software (QuickBooks Online/Desktop preferred)
Preferred Skills:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations, and internal controls Excellent analytical reasoning and attention to detail Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team Commitment to continuous learning and professional development[

$59,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
