This position focuses on securing bulk raw materials, including liquid chemicals, while maintaining accuracy, responsiveness, and strong supplier relationships in a fast-moving office environment. The ideal candidate is confident in vendor discussions, comfortable working through changing priorities, and able to support purchasing decisions with careful tracking and analysis.
Responsibilities:
Manage the procurement of bulk raw materials, with a primary focus on liquid chemical purchases that support ongoing manufacturing needs. Negotiate pricing, terms, and supply arrangements with existing vendors while identifying competitive options when new sources are required. Expand the supplier network by researching, contacting, and qualifying additional vendors to improve availability and purchasing flexibility. Prepare, review, and process purchase orders with close attention to accuracy, timing, and alignment with internal buying procedures. Maintain organized purchasing records and monitor procurement activity using spreadsheets, SharePoint, and the DatCor system. Analyze vendor quotes and market options in Excel to support cost-conscious decisions and reliable material supply. Work effectively in a small, high-speed office setting where priorities can shift quickly and procurement needs may change with little notice. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to resolve sourcing challenges, including reaching out to unconventional or competitive sources when necessary. Background in buying raw materials or other high-volume commodities, preferably including bulk liquid chemical products. Demonstrated ability to negotiate confidently with suppliers and secure favorable commercial terms. Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage purchase orders, vendor information, and pricing data accurately. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for tracking, comparing, and analyzing procurement information. Familiarity with procurement systems or ERP platforms; exposure to SharePoint or DatCor/Chempax is beneficial. Ability to build strong vendor relationships while remaining persistent and effective in challenging negotiations. Must be willing to consent to drug and background.
