JOB SUMMARY

Coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw material, equipment, tools, parts, supplies and advertising for Paradigm Manufacturing, Inc.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Confer with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
• Liaison with other departments, particularly customer support and manufacturing.
• Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items.
• Estimates values according to knowledge of market price.
• Determines method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid, as directed and approved by management.
• Prepares purchase orders or bid request.
• Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations.
• Presents contracts and bids to Materials Manager for approval.
• Maintains manual or computerized procurement records, such as items purchased, cost, delivery, quality and inventories.
• Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with vendors to determine source of trouble and take corrective actions.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Evaluate work order B.O.M. requirements and material requisitions as required.

• Reviews B.O.M. and requisition requirements.
• Select and/or solicit suppliers based upon price, delivery dates, quality and reliability.
• Analyze quotes in terms of supplier's ability to meet specifications and delivery requirements on time in order to optimize costs.
• Negotiate price reductions and produce cost savings as required.
• Place purchase orders with approved suppliers based upon quality of product/service, price and delivery dates. Expedite delivery of items on open purchase orders to ensure that the due dates are maintained.
• Contacts suppliers as necessary to ensure on time delivery.
• Update softcopy with any change orders made to purchase order.
• Contacts appropriate department head/requestor regarding revised delivery date to see if it will affect production. If production is affected, the supplier is contacted again to see what options would be available, or another supplier is selected that can meet our delivery requirements. Reconcile receiving and accounts payable issues.
• Evaluates discrepancies in receipt for purchase orders and invoices
• Contact suppliers to resolve receiving or accounts payable issues, i.e. discrepancies in shipping method, packaging, purchase order number, payment terms, pricing or quantity. Evaluate suppliers for the Approved Supplier List.
• Send Supplier Surveys as required.
• Monitor and maintain Paradigm Manufacturing ASL.
• Supply the delivery and QPPM information on a monthly basis to the Materials Manager. Maintain software for material descriptions and lead times.
• Review material software maintenance for accuracy in descriptions, sizes, lengths and unit of measures.
• Maintain pricing and lead-times.

JOB KNOWLEDGE

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum 3 years experience related to manufacturing, purchasing and inventory control. Requires mathematical reasoning, reading writing and communication skills normally acquired through high school education or equivalent. Must be a detailed-oriented individual with strong negotiation skills and the ability to multi-task. Proficient in written and oral communications.
