Description of Duties:
The Temperature Control Division of Standard Motor Products has a Buyer position open at our Lewisville, Texas location. As a prominent member of the Purchasing Department, you will manage and negotiate inventory replenishment for selected aftermarket commodities, both internationally and domestically, ensuring timely delivery and optimal stock levels. Most supply partners are international. Analyze the requirements of the commodity, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, lead-times, and date commodity as needed. Issue new and monitor existing purchase orders for delivery to meet business needs. Extensive MRP, inventory replenishment experience needed. MRP ordering, order expedite, defer, cancel experience needed. Maintain prompt control of orders, revisions, shipping notices, and other documents to assure accurate retention of records and order arrival. Effectively communicate with internal staff and domestic and international suppliers. Effectively communicate and work closely with our Product Development, Engineering, Receiving Inspection, and Accounts Payable departments from multiple SMP locations. Effectively coordinate with our Product Development and Engineering departments to select suppliers based on quality, cost, lead-time and service. Participate in negotiations with suppliers. Research and implement opportunities to reduce cost of products and/or services. Responsible for maintaining acceptable inventory levels and inventory turn goals. Coordinate and make necessary arrangements for processing discrepancy items/materials for proper disposition. Issue replacement purchase orders as required on returned items and materials.

REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE
To qualify, a bachelor's degree or two or more year's related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a high-volume international setting. CPIM certification preferred. The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and excellent interpersonal, oral/written communication and critical thinking skills are also essential. Candidate must be proficient in MS Excel (VLOOKUP, CONCATINATE, TRIM, IF Statements, Calculations, PIVOT Tables,etc.). MS Excel knowledge is necessary for various responsibilities. Knowledge of JD Edwards ERP/MRP system systems preferred. Candidates will be required to take an MS Excel skills assessment. We offer a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
