Job Description

BuyerLocation:
San Antonio, TXPosition OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented Buyer to manage the procurement of goods and services that support production and operations. The Buyer will be responsible for executing purchasing activities, maintaining supplier relationships, ensuring timely delivery, and optimizing cost and inventory levels while using ERP systems to maintain accurate procurement records. This role will collaborate with engineering, quality, and operations to meet business needs and support continuous improvement.

Key ResponsibilitiesExecute purchasing activities including issuing purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and ensuring on-time receipt of materials and services.

Manage supplier relationships: identify, evaluate, qualify, and maintain supplier performance and compliance.

Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms and contracts to achieve cost savings and favorable terms.

Maintain accurate procurement records and transactions within the company ERP system, including vendor master data and PO status tracking.

Collaborate with engineering, quality, production planning and inventory teams to resolve supply issues and support new product introductions.

Monitor inventory levels and support inventory optimization efforts, including reorder point reviews and safety stock adjustments.

Support supplier development and corrective action processes for nonconforming material and performance issues.

Prepare procurement reports and analyses to identify cost reduction opportunities and support sourcing decisions.

Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, and applicable regulations and support audit activities.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.2+ years of purchasing/procurement experience (manufacturing or distribution preferred).Proven experience using ERP systems for purchasing and inventory control (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics or similar).Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain supplier relationships.

Analytical skills and proficiency with Excel for tracking, reporting, and analysis.

Familiarity with procurement best practices, supplier performance metrics and contract terms.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, work cross-functionally and meet deadlines.

Nice to have: experience in the aerospace industry and/or possession of CPSM or APICS (CPIM/CSCP) certification.
