Our team of enthusiastic and knowledgeable professionals is looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to become an integral part of our operations. Position Summary The Strategic Buyer is responsible for developing and executing sourcing and procurement strategies that support organizational objectives related to cost, quality, delivery, and supplier performance. This role leads supplier negotiations, manages strategic supplier relationships, conducts market analysis, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure the uninterrupted supply of materials and services while driving continuous improvement and cost savings initiatives.
Compensation:
Competitive starting salary of $100,000+, commensurate with experience Key Responsibilities Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans for assigned commodities, materials, and services. Lead supplier selection, qualification, and performance management activities. Negotiate pricing, contracts, terms, and long-term supply agreements to achieve optimal value. Analyze market conditions, industry trends, and supply chain risks to support purchasing decisions. Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and strategic partners. Collaborate with operations, engineering, quality, planning, and finance teams to support production and business requirements. Identify and implement cost reduction, value engineering, and process improvement initiatives. Monitor supplier performance using key metrics and implement corrective actions when necessary. Support inventory optimization efforts while ensuring material availability. Conduct supplier business reviews, audits, and risk assessments. Ensure compliance with company policies, procurement procedures, and ethical sourcing standards. Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and supplier documentation within ERP systems. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field required. Certifications APICS certification required (CPIM, CSCP, or CLTD preferred). Additional procurement certifications such as CPSM or CPM are a plus. Experience 7 - 10 years+ of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management. Proven experience negotiating complex supplier agreements and managing strategic supplier relationships. Experience in manufacturing, industrial, aerospace, automotive, consumer products, or related industries preferred. Demonstrated success in achieving cost savings, supplier performance improvements, and supply chain optimization initiatives. Experience supporting government, defense, or military contracts is highly desirable but not required. Familiarity with government procurement regulations, defense industry standards, and compliance requirements is a plus. Skills & Competencies Advanced negotiation and contract management skills. Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving abilities. Comprehensive knowledge of strategic sourcing methodologies and supplier relationship management. Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or equivalent. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools. Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to lead cross-functional projects and influence decision-making at multiple organizational levels. Strong understanding of inventory management, demand planning, and supply chain operations.
