  • Full-time Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Material Purchaser/Buyer to join our team.
In this vital role, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials and supplies essential for our production and operations. Your expertise will ensure the seamless flow of materials through effective supply chain management, inventory control, and strategic sourcing. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our company's growth by optimizing our processes, managing supplier relationships, and leveraging advanced ERP systems to meet organizational needs efficiently. Responsibilities Develop and execute purchasing strategies aligned with production schedules and company goals, ensuring timely availability of materials. Source suppliers through market research, e-commerce platforms, and industry networks; evaluate vendor capabilities based on quality, cost, delivery timeframes, and compliance standards. Analyze weekly purchase component demand through Purchase Requisition submissions for materials and hardware purchases. Process ERP system driven supply and demand reports. Negotiate contracts, pricing agreements, and service levels with suppliers to secure the best terms while fostering strong supplier relationships. Monitor inventory management practices to prevent stockouts or excess inventory; implement effective inventory control measures. Oversee documentation including purchase orders, contracts, and supply chain records while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. Expedite raw material deliveries when necessary. Qualifications Proven experience in materials management within manufacturing environments. In-depth knowledge of supply chain management principles including sourcing, logistics, inventory management, and production planning. Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable terms from suppliers. Ability to analyze market trends and utilize data-driven insights for strategic sourcing decisions. Effective communication skills to collaborate across departments and build supplier partnerships. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or related field is preferred. Five plus years' experience in manufacturing planning, purchasing, negotiations, or supplier relations. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must be very familiar with raw steel, aluminum and stainless-steel material alloys and grades, as well as hardware. Must have the ability to be an effective negotiator with prices provided by material and hardware suppliers. Multi-tasking is an essential function of this position; Must be able to juggle many tasks simultaneously. Must have exceptional math skills and be very analytical and can pay attention to the smallest of details.
