Job Description

Reports To:
Board of Directors Position Summary The CEO/General Manager serves as the senior executive leader responsible for the overall management, strategic direction, financial performance, and regulatory compliance of the credit union. This role ensures the credit union operates in a safe, sound, member‑focused manner while advancing long‑term growth, operational excellence, and community impact. The CEO/GM works closely with the Board of Directors to implement policies, execute strategic initiatives, and uphold the mission and values of the credit union. Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the credit union's strategic plan in collaboration with the Board.
  • Identify growth opportunities in membership, products, services, and strategic partnerships.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes to guide strategic decisions.
  • Lead strategic planning with staff and the Board to support the credit union's long-term success.
  • Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, asset/liability management, and investment strategies.
  • Ensure the credit union maintains strong capital, liquidity, and earnings performance.
  • Present accurate, timely financial reports to the Board.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement financial policies and procedures.
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to ensure service quality, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with organizational needs.
  • Oversee payroll administration to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time, with appropriate controls and compliance.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure efficient, member-centric service delivery.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Improve workflows, resource allocation, and office procedures to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure technology systems, equipment, supplies, and facilities support operational needs and member expectations.
  • Lead and develop staff, fostering a culture of accountability, service excellence, and professional growth.
  • Ensure full compliance with NCUA regulations and all relevant financial and consumer protection requirements.
  • Maintain a strong risk management framework, including cybersecurity, lending risk, operational risk, security, and safety.
  • Review fidelity bond coverage regularly to ensure appropriate protection for the credit union and compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulators, auditors, and external partners.
  • Provide the Board with clear, accurate, and timely information to support effective governance.
  • Recommend policies, strategic initiatives, and operational improvements.
  • Execute Board decisions and maintain open, transparent communication.
  • Advise the Board on compensation philosophy and recommend appropriate wage, salary, and benefits structures.
  • Review insurance plan options and benefits offerings regularly to support cost-effective, competitive employee coverage.
Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in business, finance, management, or related field. Minimum 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in financial services, preferably in a credit union or community bank. Strong understanding of credit union operations, lending, compliance, and financial management. Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and drive organizational performance. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision‑making skills. Preferred Experience in a small‑asset credit union environment. Familiarity with NCUA regulations and credit union governance. Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CUNA Management School, CCUE).
