The ED will… 1. Be a nonprofit professional with a credible history of leadership and management. 2. Collaborate with the Board (and its consultant) to establish a vision and strategic plan that confidently advances the organization. 3. Actively engage with and foster an enthusiastic organizational culture with SHMV volunteers, Board members, partnering organizations, members, philanthropists, and the local community to further the mission of the organization. 4. Cultivate a strong and transparent working relationship with the Board and ensure open communication about the measurement of financial, programming, and impact performance against stated goals. 5. Serve as ex-officio on committees.Fundraising & Communications:
The ED will… 1. The Executive Director will be responsible for planning, creating membership and other outreach campaigns, and soliciting charitable gifts and sponsorships as well as leading the cultivation and relationship-building process with existing and new donors and members. 2. The ED will work with the Officers to explore or refine other revenue-generating and fundraising activities to support mission fulfillment. 3. Write and execute comprehensive letter-writing campaigns that will endeavor to cultivate harmonious appreciation of the organization. 4. Deepen all aspects of donor communications with the goal of creating a stronger brand. 5. Serve as the "face" of the organization, managing its public image and building partnerships.Budgeting & Finance:
The ED will… 1. Work with the Board Treasurer and financial contractor to ensure that the flow of funds permits the organization to make continuous progress towards the achievement of its mission and that those funds are allocated properly and stewarded judiciously. 2. Work with the Board Treasurer and financial contractor to ensure requested materials are submitted to the tax accountant (for annual tax returns as well as audits or financial reviews). 3. Ensure SHMV is compliant with annual Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services and Sunbiz reporting requirements.Administration:
The ED will… 1. Be ultimately responsible for day-to-day operations, including personnel and administration. 2. Have a working knowledge of tech systems and platforms to bring the organization up to date. 3. Recruit, hire and instruct a full-time Operations Manager and a full- or part-time Coordinator once the respective needs are fully recognized and understood. 4. Work with the staff to ensure the security of the entire property is in place, including individual historic house doors, the public restrooms, and all accounting records of the organization. Education Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred. Preferred fields of study include nonprofit management, museum management, business, and public administration. Qualifications At least 5 years of senior management experience and with a documented track record of effectively leading an outcomes-based organization and staff. 1. Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation. 2. Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop productive teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget. 3. Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to effectively cultivate existing Board member relationships. 4. Intellectual curiosity, self-awareness, ability to think critically, and to handle ambiguity. 5. Strong marketing and public relations competencies, understanding the importance of well- constructed communications on behalf of the organization. 6. Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising principles and ethics and demonstrated success in implementing all aspects of the donor development cycle. 7. Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) credential preferred. 8. Strong written and verbal communication skills with persuasive and compassionate excellence. 9. Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning. 10. Integrity, ingenuity, mission-directed and self-directed. 11. Passionate about the mission.
