Job Description
Position Overview The National Association of Steel Pipe Distributors (NASPD) is seeking a strategic, relationship-driven, and entrepreneurial Executive Director to lead all aspects of association management, member engagement, conferences, financial operations, publications, educational programming, and industry relations. Serving as the organization's chief staff executive, the Executive Director works closely with the Board of Directors, committees, members, sponsors, and industry partners to ensure the association's continued growth, financial stability, and operational excellence. This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance strategic vision with day-to-day execution in a small, highly member-focused organization. Key Responsibilities Financial & Revenue Management Oversee an approximately $1 million operating budget, including membership dues, sponsorships, advertising, and event revenue. Ensure the long-term financial health and sustainability of the association. Develop and manage annual budgets, financial forecasts, and revenue growth initiatives. Strategic Planning & Governance Partner with the Board of Directors to develop and implement multi-year strategic plans aligned with NASPD's mission and priorities. Provide regular financial, operational, and strategic updates to support informed board decision-making. Support board committees and ensure effective governance practices. Member & Industry Relations Serve as the primary representative and ambassador for the association. Build and maintain strong relationships with members, sponsors, industry leaders, and strategic partners. Deliver exceptional member service and identify opportunities to increase member engagement and retention. Content, Communications & Publications Oversee the development of high-quality content across digital platforms, publications, and emerging media channels. Expand audience reach and strengthen the association's industry presence and communications strategy. Ensure consistency, professionalism, and brand integrity across all communications. Program & Event Leadership Lead the planning and execution of conferences, educational programs, and industry events. Ensure programs provide meaningful professional development opportunities and deliver strong member value. Oversee sponsor engagement and event revenue generation. Qualifications & Experience Experience in Business, Nonprofit Management, Marketing and Communications, or a related field. Minimum of 5-10 years of leadership experience within an association, nonprofit, trade organization, or related business environment. Experience in the pipe and steel industry, industrial distribution, construction, energy, or related sectors is preferred but not required. Demonstrated success in fiscal management, strategic planning, and organizational leadership. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with financial systems, databases, CRM platforms, and social media tools. Ability and willingness to travel for conferences, meetings, and industry events. Professional presence with the ability to work effectively with boards, committees, members, sponsors, and executives.
