Job Description

Job Description The Main San Gabriel Basin Watermaster is a nine-person board appointed by the Los Angeles County Superior Court to administer water rights and manage the water supply and water quality of the Main San Gabriel Groundwater Basin. Six members are elected by Basin water producers, and three are nominated by municipal water districts. Watermaster was established in 1973 pursuant to Judgment No. 924128, which adjudicated Basin water rights and established the framework for managing the Basin. The Judgment was entered on January 4, 1973. Watermaster is located in the San Gabriel Valley, one of the principal valleys of Southern California. With a population of approximately two million people, the region offers virtually every amenity of a major metropolitan area, while its cultural and business life is enriched by its remarkable ethnic and cultural diversity. Under the policy direction of the Board, the Executive Officer plans, directs, and oversees all aspects of the administration and operations of the Main San Gabriel Basin Watermaster and Raymond Basin Management Board (collectively, Watermaster), ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and provisions of the Judgment. The Executive Officer provides highly responsible and complex professional leadership while supporting the Board in directing and coordinating Watermaster's activities. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, politically astute, and highly credible leader who can build strong relationships and earn the respect of Watermaster while working effectively with a broad range of public and private water suppliers, regulators, regional water agencies, state and federal legislators, and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will have the knowledge and judgment to administer the Judgment fully and accurately, work with and effectively lead a small staff, and provide responsive and trusted support to the Watermaster Board. The salary for the incoming Executive officer is negotiable and dependent upon experience and qualifications as determined by the Board. The Watermaster also offers a competitive, full benefits package. If you are interested in this outstanding opportunity, please visit our website at www.bobmurrayassoc.com to apply online.
