Full-Time Position Summary The Chief Operating Officer (COO) provides strategic and operational leadership for ReNew Recovery Cafe, ensuring the organization delivers high-quality recovery support services while maintaining strong compliance, quality assurance, and operational excellence. The COO oversees day-to-day operations, program implementation, staff management, and administrative systems to ensure the organization effectively supports individuals in recovery and fulfills its mission. This role partners closely with the Executive Director, Director of Operations, community partners, and stakeholders to expand services, strengthen operational infrastructure, and ensure regulatory compliance and program quality. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership Support daily operations of the Recovery Cafe, including programming, member engagement, staffing, scheduling, and facilities. Implement operational systems and policies that support sustainable growth and program effectiveness. Develop and manage operational budgets, resource allocation, and cost-control strategies. Ensure alignment of operations with the organization's mission, vision, and strategic goals. Support the Executive Director in strategic planning and organizational development. Program Oversight Ensure effective delivery of recovery support services, peer-support programming, community meals, and wellness activities. Monitor program performance and outcomes to ensure services meet community needs. Support the Director of Operations to develop new initiatives that strengthen recovery support and community engagement. Ensure trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and inclusive program practices. Staff Leadership & Organizational Culture Supervise program managers, administrative staff, and operations personnel. Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate staff to ensure strong performance and professional growth. Foster a positive workplace culture centered on compassion, recovery principles, accountability, and teamwork. Establish clear communication systems and performance expectations. Compliance & Quality Assurance The COO is responsible for building and maintaining a robust compliance and quality assurance framework that ensures services meet regulatory, ethical, and organizational standards. Compliance Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing nonprofit organizations, recovery support services, food service operations, and grant funding. Maintain policies and procedures that support regulatory compliance and risk management. Monitor adherence to confidentiality standards, including HIPAA and other privacy requirements where applicable. Oversee documentation standards, incident reporting, and safety protocols. Serve as the organization's internal compliance lead, coordinating audits, reporting requirements, and corrective action plans when needed. Quality Assurance Develop and implement a Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement (QA/CI) framework. Track program outcomes, service quality metrics, and member satisfaction. Conduct regular program reviews and operational audits to identify areas for improvement. Implement staff training and quality improvement initiatives based on evaluation findings. Work with Executive Director to ensure services aligns with evidence-informed recovery support models of the ReNew Recovery Cafés and best practices. Financial & Administrative Oversight Work with the Executive Director to develop and manage operational budgets. Ensure responsible stewardship of financial resources. Oversee operational systems including facilities, food service operations, data management, and technology platforms. Support grant compliance and reporting requirements. EOE
