Job Summary:
The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, operational performance, and financial success of an assigned market, region, or business unit. This position oversees all aspects of operations, sales, service delivery, customer satisfaction, employee development, safety, and profitability while ensuring alignment with CraneWorks' mission, values, and growth objectives. The General Manager serves as the senior leader within the operation, driving business growth, operational excellence, and a high-performance culture while maintaining exceptional customer relationships and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Business Growth Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve revenue growth, profitability, and market expansion objectives. Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and service offerings to strengthen CraneWorks' market position. Collaborate with executive leadership to establish annual business goals, budgets, and operational plans. Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity to support business development initiatives. Foster strong relationships with key customers, vendors, community leaders, and industry partners. Financial Management Maintain full accountability for profit and loss performance of the assigned operation. Develop, manage, and execute annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor financial performance through key metrics and implement corrective actions when necessary. Drive revenue growth while maintaining cost controls and operational efficiencies. Oversee accounts receivable performance and resolve escalated customer payment issues. Ensure proper financial controls, cash management, and asset protection practices are followed. Operations Leadership Oversee all operational activities to ensure efficiency, productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics across all departments. Ensure proper management of Work In Progress (WIP), aging Request Orders (ROs), inventory levels, and administrative processes. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational excellence and customer experience. Ensure facilities, equipment, and assets are maintained in safe and effective operating condition. Maintain compliance with all permits, licenses, certifications, and regulatory requirements. Customer Experience Champion a customer-first culture throughout the organization. Ensure customer satisfaction levels consistently meet or exceed company standards. Resolve complex customer concerns and escalated service issues effectively. Maintain strong relationships with strategic customers and key accounts. Promote proactive communication regarding service delays, backorders, and operational challenges. Leadership & Talent Development Build, lead, and develop high-performing management teams and employees. Drive workforce planning, recruitment, retention, and succession planning efforts. Oversee hiring initiatives with particular focus on critical operational and technical positions. Coach, mentor, and develop managers and employees to maximize performance and career growth. Ensure all employees receive proper onboarding, training, and development opportunities. Foster employee engagement through transparent communication, recognition programs, and team-building initiatives. Promote accountability while maintaining a positive and inclusive workplace culture. Safety & Compliance Lead and reinforce CraneWorks' commitment to a strong safety culture. Ensure compliance with all company policies, OSHA regulations, labor laws, and industry standards. Monitor workplace safety performance and implement corrective actions as needed. Support incident investigations and ensure proper follow-up actions are completed. Maintain security measures including facility access controls, alarms, surveillance systems, and theft prevention programs. Facility & Asset Management Ensure facilities, yards, shops, offices, and customer-facing areas are maintained to company standards. Oversee inventory management and asset utilization to maximize operational efficiency. Ensure facility maintenance issues are addressed promptly and effectively. Protect company assets through proper operational controls and security procedures. Culture & Community Engagement Serve as a visible leader and ambassador for CraneWorks within the community. Support local industry organizations, customer events, sponsorships, and community initiatives. Promote CraneWorks' values of safety, quality, integrity, reliability, and teamwork throughout the organization. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer service excellence. Additional Responsibilities Partner with Human Resources on employee relations, performance management, and organizational development matters. Escalate significant personnel or operational issues to executive leadership as appropriate. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Operations, or a related field strongly preferred. Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in a service, industrial, equipment, manufacturing, construction, or related industry. Proven experience managing multi-functional operations with direct responsibility for financial performance. Strong understanding of service operations, equipment management, inventory control, and customer service. Demonstrated success leading teams, driving growth, and improving operational performance. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and performance management. Strong knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements. Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.
