Exempt SUMMARY The Regional Director, Northwest Missouri (NWMO) serves as a strategic leader within Life Unlimited, responsible for advancing regional operations, community presence, service excellence, and sustainable growth. This role leads regional programs while building strong partnerships, expanding community outreach, and positioning Life Unlimited as the provider of choice throughout Northwest Missouri. The Regional Director fosters innovation, operational excellence, and collaborative leadership while ensuring alignment with Life Unlimited's mission, strategic priorities, and organizational culture.
BASIC FUNCTIONS AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Exceptional Services Purpose:
Ensure high-quality, person-centered services that improve outcomes and enhance the lives of individuals served.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure exceptional service delivery throughout NWMO aligned with Life Unlimited's mission, culture, and strategic priorities
  • Collaborate with program leaders and Quality Assurance to monitor quality indicators, compliance outcomes, and program performance
  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives when needed
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements including DMH, DHSS, DESE, and other oversight agencies
  • Partner with UPM and operational teams to ensure facilities and environments remain safe, functional, and welcoming
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement in regional service delivery
  • Support individualized, person-centered approaches that improve quality of life and independence
Exceptional Workforce Purpose:
Build, develop, and retain a strong regional team while fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support regional leadership teams in achieving operational and strategic goals
  • Partner with HR, Recruiting, and Training to ensure staffing needs, onboarding, and development initiatives are successful
  • Foster a positive culture focused on teamwork, communication, and mission alignment
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to leaders and team members
  • Support workforce retention initiatives and employee engagement efforts
  • Encourage leadership development and succession planning within the region
  • Promote a culture of innovation, problem-solving, and continuous learning
Growth and Community Engagement Purpose:
Drive strategic growth, strengthen community presence, and expand partnerships that increase awareness, referrals, and opportunities throughout Northwest Missouri.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead regional growth initiatives aligned with Life Unlimited's strategic plan
  • Identify opportunities for expansion of services, programs, and partnerships within NWMO
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, school districts, healthcare providers, businesses, advocacy organizations, and government agencies
  • Represent Life Unlimited at community meetings, networking groups, conferences, and regional events
  • Develop strategic partnerships and referral relationships that increase visibility and access to services
  • Participate in local and regional professional networks, coalitions, and leadership groups to strengthen community engagement
  • Promote Life Unlimited as a trusted and innovative provider within the disability services community
  • Develop and lead regional advisory councils or stakeholder groups to support outreach and growth efforts
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Development teams to increase awareness, storytelling, and community presence
  • Identify emerging community needs and opportunities for future service development
Financial Strength Purpose:
Ensure operational sustainability through sound financial management, strategic planning, and responsible resource allocation.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and manage regional budgets aligned with strategic priorities
  • Monitor financial performance, operational metrics, staffing patterns, and service utilization
  • Ensure programs operate within approved budgets while maintaining service quality
  • Support strategic planning related to growth, expansion, and operational efficiency
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational performance and maximize resources
  • Collaborate on financial projections and planning for new programs and services
  • Ensure responsible stewardship of organizational resources
Community Relations & Communication Purpose:
Strengthen communication, trust, and collaboration across the organization and throughout the community.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary regional representative and ambassador for Life Unlimited in Northwest Missouri
  • Maintain strong communication with families, guardians, stakeholders, and community partners
  • Respond to concerns promptly and professionally while promoting positive relationships
  • Foster collaboration and consistency among regional teams and departments
  • Communicate organizational priorities, initiatives, and updates effectively across the region
  • Strengthen Life Unlimited's visibility and reputation through active community involvement
  • Build relationships with local leaders and organizations that align with Life Unlimited's mission and growth goals
  • Promote advocacy and awareness for individuals with disabilities within the region
Leadership & Strategic Alignment Purpose:
Provide visionary leadership that aligns regional operations with Life Unlimited's mission, values, and long-term strategic direction.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a member of organizational leadership contributing to strategic planning and organizational initiatives
  • Ensure regional implementation of organizational goals, policies, and strategic priorities
  • Collaborate with Resource Teams including IT, HR, Finance, Quality Assurance, and Operations
  • Lead change initiatives and support organizational growth and transformation efforts
  • Use operational and performance data to guide decision-making and improve outcomes
  • Promote accountability, innovation, and operational excellence throughout the region Physical Expectations Requires extended periods of walking, standing, and sitting depending on participant needs.
May require lifting up to 50 pounds independently and occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, or climbing stairs. May require occasional physical intervention when confronted by potentially dangerous or combative behavior. Working Conditions Office and home-based work environment with exposure to common office noises and occasional small machinery. May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens or infectious diseases. May require prolonged hours or unusual duties to meet participant needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Social Services, Business, Nonprofit Leadership, Healthcare Administration, Education, or related field
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of progressive leadership experience in operations, program management, or regional leadership
  • Experience in intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), healthcare, human services, or nonprofit leadership preferred
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated success in community relationship building, outreach, and strategic growth
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to lead multiple teams and initiatives in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience managing budgets and operational performance
  • Must obtain a Class E driver's license and maintain required auto insurance coverage
