Job Description

Cone Health seeks an Executive Director to provide visionary leadership across our not-for-profit healthcare network serving the Piedmont Triad. This role drives system-level strategy, quality, and operational excellence while advancing equitable, community-focused care. The Executive Director oversees key clinical and administrative functions, ensuring regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, and continuous performance improvement. The leader will foster a collaborative, inclusive culture, mentor senior teams, and build partnerships that expand access, support innovation, and strengthen Cone Health's mission and community impact. Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership across the health system to advance mission and long-term goals Oversee clinical, operational, and financial performance for assigned service lines or entities Build a culture of high-quality, equitable, patient-centered care Partner with medical staff, community leaders, and stakeholders to expand access to services Drive performance improvement, regulatory compliance, and risk management Develop and manage budgets, resource allocation, and capital planning Lead and mentor senior leaders and interdisciplinary teams Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and workforce engagement initiatives Report to governing boards and executive leadership on outcomes and strategy Represent Cone Health in community, philanthropic, and partnership initiatives Required Skills Healthcare administration Strategic planning Hospital operations management Clinical quality and patient safety oversight Regulatory and accreditation compliance Healthcare finance and budgeting Performance improvement/Lean or Six Sigma Stakeholder and physician relations Change management Data-driven decision-making and reporting
