We are seeking a transformational Chief Operating Officer (COO), a strategic, execution‑focused leader who will scale our global impact, strengthen operational excellence, and help shape the future of Habitat. This is one of the most critical leadership roles in our organization and a unique opportunity to drive mission delivery at global scale while positioning yourself as a potential future CEO. Why This Role Matters As COO, you will serve as a key partner to the CEO and a core member of the Executive Leadership Team, ensuring Habitat delivers on its bold strategic ambitions with discipline, innovation, and integrity. You will lead a complex global operating model—aligning programs, regions, and enabling functions to deliver measurable results for families and communities around the world. This is a role for a leader who thrives in complexity and is energized by turning strategy into execution at scale. What You'll Do Drive Enterprise Operations & Execution Lead global operational strategy, delivery models, and performance management Ensure consistent, high‑quality program execution across regions and functions Integrate operations across global, regional, and national structures Oversee Global Program Delivery Provide executive oversight of Habitat's global program portfolio Align program design, implementation, and risk management with field realities Balance global consistency with local adaptability across diverse markets Enable innovation, growth, and new partnership models Strengthen Performance & Risk Management Establish and track enterprise KPIs for operational effectiveness and impact Oversee safety, security, and safeguarding strategies globally Proactively manage operational, reputational, and compliance risks Lead a High-Impact Global Team You will lead and empower a senior leadership team responsible for driving impact across 70+ countries. You will foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, continuous improvement, and execution excellence. Partner with the CEO & Represent Habitat Globally Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the CEO Drive enterprise initiatives, transformation, and change management Represent Habitat with funders, partners, and global stakeholders What You Bring Proven executive leadership experience in global operations, international development, or complex multinational organizations Demonstrated success leading large, matrixed, multi-country systems Strong track record of driving strategy execution and operational excellence at scale Deep expertise in performance management, risk, and organizational effectiveness Experience leading senior leaders and building high-performing, diverse teams Exceptional cross-cultural, diplomatic, and stakeholder engagement skills Passion for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion as a business and mission imperative Who You Are A decisive, globally credible executive leader Strategic thinker with strong operational instincts A builder of systems, teams, and cultures that deliver results Calm and effective in complexity and ambiguity Deeply aligned with Habitat's mission and values Our Mission & Values Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization dedicated to eliminating poverty housing and homelessness worldwide.

The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate's qualifications and professional experience. HFHI offers a competitive, comprehensive benefits package that varies by country and typically includes vacation leave, sick leave, personal days, health insurance options, retirement plan contributions and life insurance. For work locations in the US, the hiring range for this position is $308,700
  • $386,200.
Staff hired on a hybrid basis in the United States near Atlanta, Georgia / Washington, DC and Americus, GA, are required to report to the office on Tuesdays.
