Your Role & Impact As the Healthcare Strategist, Imaging Service Line , you will serve as the enterprise-level strategic leader for imaging services across McLeod Health. You will advance operational excellence, improve access, standardize practices, and ensure the delivery of high-quality imaging services that support all clinical operations throughout the continuum of care. This role will work closely with hospital-based and ambulatory imaging leaders to improve radiology as a service through collaboration, shared governance, systemwide performance improvement, and strong physician and administrative partnerships.
What You'll Do:
1.
Systemwide Strategy & Service Development Develop Strategic Plan:
Create and execute a multi-year radiology service strategic plan that aligns with health system goals and clinical priorities.
Advance Unified Vision:
Promote a systemwide vision for imaging services, incorporating acute care, ambulatory, and digital health strategies.
Lead Service Maturation:
Guide radiology services toward a cohesive operating model with consistent standards and shared outcomes. 2.
Operational Excellence & Performance Improvement Design Systemwide Initiatives:
Working with other operational leaders, design, launch, and oversee initiatives to improve throughput, quality, safety, scheduling, and operational efficiency.
Establish Standardized Workflows:
Create consistent protocols, productivity models, and KPI dashboards across all imaging locations.
Conduct Performance Reviews:
Evaluate each location and partner with local leaders to drive measurable improvements.
Ensure Alignment:
Align equipment utilization, staffing models, hours of operation, and patient flow processes. 3.
Access Optimization Improve Patient Access:
Enhance access through standardized scheduling practices, centralized scheduling functions, patient-facing platforms, and optimized capacity.
Implement Access Strategies:
Reduce wait times, expand access hours, balance volumes between sites, and improve same-day/next-day availability.
Develop Access Metrics:
Monitor access performance and drive continuous improvement. 4.
Partnership & Influence Leadership Build Strong Relationships:
Connect with hospital leaders, imaging leaders, ambulatory leaders, and radiologist groups. Partner with
Medical Staff:
Ensure appropriateness criteria, imaging protocols, and service levels to support all clinical specialties.
Facilitate Shared Governance:
Build consensus across diverse stakeholders. 5.
Quality, Safety, & Regulatory Compliance Standardize Imaging Quality:
Implement consistent patient safety practices and peer review processes across all system sites.
Ensure Regulatory Compliance:
Meet requirements of accrediting bodies (e.g., ACR, DHEC, CMS/DNV). Partner for
Excellence:
Work with radiologists, technologists, and quality leaders to improve diagnostic accuracy, reduce variation, and elevate the patient experience. 6.
Financial Stewardship & Asset Management Develop Capital Plans:
Partner with finance, supply chain, and biomedical teams to plan for imaging equipment standardization, replacement, and expansion.
Optimize Financial Performance:
Improve service line performance through efficient operations, reduced variation, and enhanced revenue capture.
Assess New Technologies:
Support the rollout of AI, advanced imaging modalities, and
PACS/RIS
enhancements. 7.
Team Development & Future Leadership Structure Mentor Local Leaders:
Foster a culture of system thinking, accountability, and cross-site collaboration among imaging leaders. Prepare for
Future Transitions:
Guide the service toward a unified leadership model.
Build Succession Plans:
Develop training pathways and professional development opportunities across all imaging teams.
What You Bring:
Education:
Required:
Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related radiology field.
Experience:
Minimum 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in imaging or hospital operations within a multi-site or complex healthcare organization. Proven track record of leading performance improvement, standardization, and access optimization across multiple imaging locations. Experience working in matrixed environments preferred. Experience with radiology systems (PACS, RIS), scheduling platforms, modality operations, and imaging workflows preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of imaging as a support service essential to nearly all clinical care lines. Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and change management skills. Ability to drive alignment across diverse teams and locations. Data-driven leadership with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
