Full Job Description Position Overview:
The Vice President of Operations is responsible for overseeing all operational functions, including facility management, warehouse operations, project management, and quality control for warehouse handling and installations. This role plays a critical part in driving the efficiency, profitability, and operational excellence of the company. The VP of Operations will lead the implementation of the MillerKnoll Production System (MKPS) and focus on streamlining processes, improving performance, and achieving ownership goals. Additionally, the VP of Operations will ensure the warehouse and installation processes meet the highest standards of quality and accuracy.Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Oversight:
Lead and manage all aspects of Operations, including warehouse, facility management, and the project management team. Ensure the efficient execution of daily operations, with a focus on maximizing productivity, quality, and profitability. Oversee the creation and execution of logistics plans, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals and operational needs. Cultivate a culture of safety and ensure the company adheres to safety standards across all teams.Financial Management & Cost Control:
Own the overall operations budget, ensuring cost control and maximizing profitability. Work to transform the warehouse into a profit center by identifying areas to reduce costs, improve efficiencies, and increase revenue. Collaborate with leadership to identify cost-saving opportunities and operational improvements that benefit the bottom line.MKPS Implementation & Champion:
Champion the MillerKnoll Production System (MKPS), ensuring all operational teams are properly trained and executing MKPS principles. Develop and implement training programs to improve operational efficiency, quality, and productivity. Monitor KPIs for MKPS efforts, ensuring progress is tracked and goals are met. Quality Control forWarehouse Handling & Accuracy:
Oversee quality control procedures for all warehouse operations, ensuring accurate inventory management, proper handling, and timely shipments. Ensure that warehouse staff follow standardized procedures to guarantee the quality and integrity of products at every stage of storage and handling. Implement and monitor quality assurance protocols to identify any discrepancies or issues in the warehouse operations and work with the team to resolve them. Quality Control forInstallation:
Implement and monitor quality control procedures for installation teams to ensure that installations are completed to the highest standards. Ensure installation teams have the right tools, equipment, and training to maintain consistent quality and efficiency. Monitor the quality of work during installations and address any issues related to accuracy, completeness, or customer satisfaction. Work closely with installation teams to ensure any issues are identified early and resolved quickly.Project Management & Continuous Improvement:
Lead the Project Management (PM) team, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. Identify operational challenges and inefficiencies, developing plans for improvement and implementing them across teams. Manage Work in Progress (WIP) for both the PM and Operations teams, ensuring that storage and WIP are properly managed and charged for. Continuously evaluate and improve estimating processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance accuracy and efficiency.Process Optimization & CORE Champion:
Champion the CORE process for Operations and Project Management, driving consistent implementation of best practices and continuous improvement. Work with VP of Operations in Dallas on procedures and streamline forms in Smartsheet to improve operational efficiency. Identify operational bottlenecks, devise solutions, and implement process improvements to increase performance.Performance Management & Monitoring:
Oversee warehouse performance, ensuring that WIP, long-term, and short-term storage are effectively managed and meet operational needs. Manage escalations related to ServiceNet, Smartsheet, and KPIs, resolving issues in a timely manner and ensuring proper corrective actions are taken. Track and evaluate labor performance, identify issues, and implement strategies for resolution.Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure that operational strategies align with company-wide goals. Promote open communication between departments to ensure cross-functional alignment between Operations, Project Management, and other business units.Skills & Qualifications:
Proven experience in operations, project management, and leadership, ideally in a senior management or executive role. Strong financial management skills with experience in budget oversight, cost control, and profitability improvement. Expertise in the MillerKnoll Production System (MKPS) or similar operational methodologies is preferred. In-depth understanding of warehouse operations, logistics, and installation processes. Strong experience in developing and implementing quality control measures for both warehouse handling and installations. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop high-performing teams. Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and effectively manage multiple priorities. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership and operational teams.Education & Experience:
At least 10 years of experience in operations, project management, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years in an executive leadership role. Experience with Smartsheet, ServiceNet, or similar performance tracking and project management tools is a plus.Pay:
$100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per yearBenefits:
