Job Description

Lead operations for a national luxury smart home brand scaling toward $100M+—own the operating model, develop General Managers across 12+ branches, and build the systems that power consistent, high-performing results nationwide. Our client is hiring a Vice President of Operations to lead and unify operations across a national, multi-branch platform. This is not a maintenance role managing a well-oiled machine. This is the opportunity to build the operating model, set the standard, and lead the field organization for a scaling national brand that's still defining what operational excellence looks like at scale.
THE WHO:
Our client is the nation's leading luxury residential technology integrator, operating across 12+ branches in 40+ states. They design and install premium smart home systems—lighting, shades, audio/video, networking, automation—for some of the most spectacular homes in the country. They're PE-backed, scaling toward $100M+ in revenue, and unifying what started as 15+ independent companies into one cohesive national platform.
THE WHAT
You will be the senior operations leader, reporting directly to the CEO. You'll own the formulation and execution of the national operating strategy—setting vision and operating plans with the leadership team, then leading the field organization in delivering consistent, high-performing results against those plans. You'll directly oversee General Managers and the field operations team, driving standards for sales support, service delivery, and project execution across every location.
MUST HAVES
We need a battle-tested multi-site operations leader who has scaled a field-driven, project-based business before. You need 15+ years of senior operations leadership, including 8+ years leading multi-site organizations and significant P&L responsibility. Experience in technology integration, construction, home services, or similar project-driven industries is required. You must have a proven track record of building leaders (not just managing individual contributors), integrating acquisitions, and driving consistent performance across disparate locations. Most importantly, you need to be a builder—someone who thrives on creating operating models, not just maintaining them.
THE WHY:
This is a career-defining opportunity to shape how a national brand operates. You won't be inheriting a polished playbook—you'll be writing it. You'll have direct access to the CEO, real authority to build the structure and systems you know are needed, and the satisfaction of seeing your operating model power growth across the entire company. Plus, you're joining during a transformational period with significant upside potential and a clear path to Chief Operating Officer.
THE WHERE
Houston, TX preferred (where the corporate team is based), but we're open to exceptional candidates elsewhere. Significant travel required (50%+) to locations nationwide. You need to be present in the field regularly, building relationships with General Managers, understanding local operations, and ensuring your strategies translate effectively on the ground.
THE HOW:
Three strategic priorities will define your first 12-18 months: Build the
Operating Model:
Lead the development and rollout of processes, systems, and standards that improve consistency, quality, and margin across all locations. Define the right organizational structure (centralized vs. decentralized vs. regional) function by function. Create clarity around roles like project management, scheduling, warehousing, and QA at the branch level. Unify and Elevate the
Field Team:
Directly develop the General Managers and field leadership team. Build the recruiting, onboarding, training, and development programs (partnering with People) that create bench strength and leadership pipeline. Decide who stays, who grows, and where gaps need to be filled.
Drive Performance and Accountability:
Implement the management cadence, KPIs, dashboards, and reporting rhythm that improve forecasting, transparency, and results. Ensure every location is hitting quality, margin, and revenue targets—and you catch problems early, not after the fact.
THE NUTS & BOLTS
Competitive executive base salary of $190-235k, with performance-based bonus tied to operational and financial targets. Long-term incentive program eligibility. Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, HSA/FSA, PTO, paid parental leave, and more. Clear path to Chief Operating Officer as the company scales. Vice President, Operations - Full Description

THE COMPANY & TEAM
Our client is the nation's leading Home Experience Designer—the only scaled, national luxury residential technology integrator in the United States. They partner with ultra-high-net-worth homeowners, elite architects, custom builders, and interior designers to create seamless smart home experiences: lighting and shade control, whole-home audio/video, climate automation, security, networking, and integrated systems that make every day effortless, beautiful, and connected. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, they operate as one unified company (not a franchise) across 12+ branches serving 40+ states. They're in the middle of an ambitious growth story: transforming from a collection of independent businesses into one cohesive national platform, building toward $100M in revenue and beyond. Here's what makes this opportunity unique: Our client is at an inflection point. The branches exist. The revenue is flowing. The clients are there. What's been missing is the unified operating model, the consistent standards, and the leadership infrastructure to power the next phase of growth. That's where you come in.
A CAREER-DEFINING OPPORTUNITY FOR AN OPERATOR WHO BUILDS AT SCALEYOUR DNA
You're a systems builder, not a firefighter You don't just solve today's problems—you build the systems that prevent tomorrow's. You see a fragmented, inconsistent operation and think, "I can architect this." You thrive on creating operating models, standardizing processes, and building the infrastructure that allows a company to scale without losing quality or control. You lead through influence and accountability You're managing General Managers and senior leaders across the country, not frontline teams. You know how to set clear expectations, inspect what you expect, and hold people accountable to results—while also building trust, coaching performance, and developing your leadership bench. You lead through data, clarity, and respect. You're an operator with P&L DNA You understand that operations isn't just about execution—it's about driving profitable growth. You know how to read a P&L, understand margin levers, and make decisions that balance quality, speed, and profitability. You've owned revenue and profit targets before, and you know how to deliver them consistently. You're deeply analytical and data-driven You live in the numbers. You build dashboards, track KPIs, and use data to diagnose problems and drive decisions. You're comfortable with technology and reporting tools, and you know how to translate raw data into actionable insights for your team and the CEO. You've scaled multi-site operations before You've led a distributed field organization—whether through organic growth, acquisitions, or greenfield expansion. You understand the unique challenges of multi-site leadership: balancing standardization with local market needs, building culture across distance, and ensuring consistent performance when you can't be everywhere at once. You're a builder with acquisition integration experience Ideally, you've integrated acquired companies before. You know how to assess an acquisition target operationally, lead the post-close integration, and bring disparate systems, cultures, and processes into alignment without destroying what made them successful in the first place. You're comfortable with ambiguity and pace This isn't a stable, predictable environment. Priorities shift. The company is growing. You're building the plane while flying it. You thrive in that environment—you're energized by the challenge of creating order from complexity and building something that will last.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
As Vice President of Operations, you will serve as the senior operations leader and report directly to the CEO. You'll own the national operating strategy and lead the field organization—General Managers, operations support, and the entire project delivery and service network—in delivering consistent, high-performing results across every location. What You'll Do:
Own National Operations Lead and unify operations across all locations nationwide. Drive consistent standards for sales support, service delivery, and project execution. Create, execute, and adjust long-term, annual, and monthly operating plans.

Build the Operating Model Lead the development and rollout of processes and systems that improve consistency, quality, speed, and margin. Expand the System Add new locations effectively, whether through greenfield expansion or acquisition. Own operational due diligence for acquisitions. Lead the on-the-ground integration of newly acquired companies into the operating model, culture, and systems. Improve Management Systems Develop and deploy the management cadence, KPIs, dashboards, and reporting rhythm that improve forecasting, predictability, transparency, and results. Ensure the technology stack supports performance monitoring and catches problems early, not just after the fact. Drive Performance and Accountability Hold General Managers and the field organization accountable to financial, quality, and operational targets. Conduct regular performance reviews, provide coaching and support, and make tough calls when performance doesn't meet standards. Set the Tone Build culture and champion both the client experience and the employee experience across the branch network. You're not just optimizing operations—you're creating an environment where great teams deliver exceptional work.
