This executive leadership position is responsible for overseeing project delivery, operational performance, team development, business development, and process improvement across the organization. The ideal candidate is a proven construction leader who understands both the field and financial sides of the business and brings a strong business development background with an established portfolio of clients and industry relationships. This individual will work closely with the CEO and leadership team to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, profitably, and to Pivotal's standards while also helping expand our client base, develop new opportunities, and drive continued company growth. Key Responsibilities Provide executive oversight of construction operations from preconstruction and project turnover through closeout. Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers, Superintendents, and other operations team members. Establish clear expectations, accountability, and consistent operational processes across all projects. Review project performance, including budgets, schedules, forecasts, cost-to-complete, change management, procurement, and overall profitability. Identify project risks early and work with teams to develop proactive solutions before they impact cost, schedule, or client relationships. Partner with Preconstruction and Estimating to ensure effective project handoffs, constructability reviews, scope alignment, procurement planning, and realistic budgets and schedules. Oversee manpower and resource planning to ensure projects are appropriately staffed based on workload and company priorities. Support project teams with subcontractor performance, contract issues, owner negotiations, and complex project challenges. Drive consistency in project documentation, forecasting, reporting, scheduling, quality control, safety, and closeout procedures. Maintain and leverage a strong business development portfolio and established network of owners, developers, architects, brokers, consultants, and industry partners to generate new project opportunities. Develop and execute business development strategies that support Pivotal's growth goals and target markets. Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of prospective clients and projects while continuing to strengthen relationships with existing clients. Partner with the CEO and leadership team on client pursuits, proposal strategies, interviews, presentations, and contract negotiations. Represent Pivotal at client meetings, industry events, networking opportunities, and other business development activities. Identify new markets, strategic partnerships, and opportunities to expand Pivotal's presence and revenue. Develop and monitor operational KPIs to evaluate project health, team performance, profitability, and organizational efficiency. Identify opportunities to improve systems, technology, processes, and workflows as the company grows. Partner with executive leadership on annual planning, company goals, growth strategies, staffing needs, and long-term operational planning. Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, communication, integrity, safety, and continuous improvement. Qualifications 15+ years of progressive commercial construction experience, with significant experience in operational and team leadership. Proven experience overseeing multiple projects and project teams simultaneously. Strong understanding of ground-up commercial construction and tenant improvement projects. Demonstrated business development success with an established portfolio of clients and industry relationships and a proven ability to generate new construction opportunities. Strong network of owners, developers, architects, brokers, subcontractors, and other industry partners preferred. Strong understanding of the local commercial construction market and ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities. Demonstrated knowledge of preconstruction, estimating, scheduling, project financials, forecasting, contracts, change management, procurement, and closeout. Strong financial acumen with the ability to evaluate project performance and protect company profitability. Proven ability to lead, mentor, develop, and hold high-performing teams accountable. Excellent communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and client relationship skills. Ability to balance operational leadership, business development, client relationships, and company growth initiatives. Strong working knowledge of construction management technology and project management systems; Procore experience preferred. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience.
