Safety & Ergonomic Analyst - John Deere Waterloo Works This is an exceptional entry-level to early-career opportunity featuring an initial 1+ year contract path paying up to $32/hr , including 1 week of PTO (with potential extensions based on production volumes). Operating 100% onsite in Waterloo, IA on a structured 1st shift ( 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM ), this role performs structured data analysis, safety audits, and ergonomic evaluations of products, packaging, tooling, and machinery across John Deere manufacturing facilities.

Position Details & Compensation Pay Rate:

Up to $32/hr (W2).

Location:

100% Onsite at John Deere (Waterloo, IA).

Duration:

1+ Year contract assignment (Potential extension based on production volumes).

Shift & Hours:

1st Shift, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM , Monday - Friday (No overtime anticipated).

Core Responsibilities Ergonomic Assessment & Risk Analysis:

Conduct formal ergonomic evaluations of products, manufacturing processes, packaging, equipment, tooling, and methods to mitigate worker physical risk.

Equipment & Process Reviews:

Evaluate new or relocated machinery to identify potential ergonomic or safety hazards before production release.

Safety Audits & Incident Support:

Perform structured safety audits and risk assessments to ensure compliance with John Deere standards and legal regulations. Assist in incident investigations to determine root causes and corrective action plans.

Compliance Data & Documentation:

Compile, analyze, and track health, safety, and regulatory documentation within John Deere's safety management system.

Training & Communication:

Conduct ergonomic training sessions for shop-floor supervisors, operators, and plant personnel; communicate risk analysis findings to leadership and affected workgroups clearly.

Required Skills & Experience Educational Foundation:

Degree or certificate in Safety, Ergonomics, Occupational Health, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical discipline (Recent graduates welcome!).

Software Proficiency:

Computer literacy with practical skills in Microsoft Office (specifically MS Excel and MS Word) for data logging, documentation, and reporting.

Analytical Capability:

Ability to interpret data, regulations, and human factors ergonomics to determine root potential problems and formulate actionable solutions.

Communication & Interpersonal Traits:

Strong verbal and written communication skills to present findings, document plans, and train shop-floor teams effectively. What Makes You Stand Out Prior internship, co-op, or academic project experience in industrial ergonomics, manufacturing safety, or time/motion studies. Familiarity with recognized ergonomic assessment tools (e.g., NIOSH Lifting Equation, RULA, REBA, Strain Index). Experience delivering training or safety briefings to shop-floor operators and leadership.
