Overview Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Proposal Intern in St. Joseph, MO to collaborate alongside our proposal team. This internship offers hands-on experience in the fast-paced proposal development process, providing valuable insights into project management, communication, and strategic planning to win multi-million-dollar projects. Develop your portfolio and hone your skills with real-world immersion in a role that combines communication strategy, marketing, and creativity to deliver solutions that persuade a target audience. The intern will participate in a blend of writing and creative design, message development, and the coordination of mission-critical activities to support the proposal/project pursuit lifecycle - Request for Information (RFI), Request of Qualifications (RFQs), and Request for Proposals (RFPs). In addition to proposal pitch documents, the intern will have the opportunity to work on brochures, slide decks, flyers, and other content as required. The ideal intern is a quick learner, possesses strong organizational skills, and has a passion for supporting business growth through market capture with creative solutions for proposal pitch documents.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of proposals for various projects.
  • Support the research and analysis of potential clients and industry trends.
  • Help maintain and update the proposal database and library of templates, resumes, and project descriptions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary information and resources for proposals.
  • Format and proofread proposal documents to ensure accuracy and professionalism.
  • Track proposal deadlines and coordinate timelines to ensure timely submissions.
  • Participate in proposal strategy meetings and contribute ideas for improvement.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to proposal development and submission
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog's Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Advertising, Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • A proactive and positive attitude towards learning and taking on new challenges.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
