This role works cross-functionally with Operations, Estimating, Accounting, Risk Management, and Legal to support contract execution and ensure alignment with company standards. This position supports the contract lifecycle, from bid review through project closeout, by identifying risks, facilitating communication, and helping ensure contract requirements are understood and followed. The role partners closely with internal subject-matter experts who provide guidance on legal, financial, and operational matters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Contract Strategy & Risk Management Review client contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders to identify potential risks and unfavorable terms Analyze provisions related to scope, payment terms, indemnification, insurance, schedule, and dispute resolution Prepare and propose redlines or revisions for internal review Escalate key risks or non-standard terms to appropriate stakeholders for guidance Bid & Preconstruction Support Review bid packages and solicitations to identify contractual risks prior to submission Partner with Estimating and Operations to support alignment between contract terms and project scope Assist in documenting and communicating contractual requirements during the preconstruction phase Contract Administration & Compliance Oversee the full contract lifecycle, including execution, compliance monitoring, change management, and closeout Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including public works and prevailing wage requirements where applicable Monitor subcontractor compliance with contractual obligations, insurance requirements, and documentation standards Maintain accurate contract records and documentation in accordance with company policies Change Management & Claims Assist with preparation and documentation of change orders, contract modifications, and scope changes Support internal teams in gathering and organizing documentation related to contract issues or disputes. Partner with internal teams and external counsel as needed to support dispute resolution Cross-Functional Coordination Serve as the primary point of contact for contract-related matters across internal departments Collaborate with: o Operations and Project Management to support execution o Accounting to align contract terms with billing and financial processes o Risk/Insurance on coverage requirements o Legal on contract interpretation and dispute resolution Ensure all stakeholders understand contractual obligations and project requirements Leadership & Process Improvement Lead, mentor, and develop contract administration staff (e.g., Contract Coordinators/Administrators) Develop and implement best practices, policies, and procedures for contract management Identify opportunities to improve contract efficiency, reduce risk, and streamline processes

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience) 5-10+ years of experience in construction contract management, contract administration, or related field Experience with construction-specific contracts (e.g., AIA, public works, subcontract agreements)

Strong understanding of construction contracts, risk allocation, and legal terminology Experience with public works, prevailing wage, and multi-state compliance highly preferred Ability to interpret and negotiate complex legal and commercial terms Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all organizational levels High attention to detail with strong organizational skills Proficiency with contract management systems and Microsoft Office applications
